Everyone goes through AP after the interview. Some only for a few hours or days, some for months. The embassy is doing all kinds of research and check-ups on the people who seek visas, it's impossible to say how long it will take. It has "only" been 2-3 weeks for you guys, unfortunately the wait can be much longer than that. Like I said, sometimes some people are in AP for months.

Terrorism checks under the PATRIOT Act is the chief cause of AP for males from MENA countries particularly.

It can also affect women, but less often.

Administrative processing is a necessary part of EVERY visa.  Some cases and some countries require more time to complete it. Administrative Processing can take days, weeks, or months..If the embassy kept her passport, that is a GOOD thing!!!

It sounds like everything is going well with her visa...

thats the thing @Zaib212 my wife never git that 221-g paper and they still doing Administrative Processing?

that's crazy. You can email US Consulate and explain to them in the email. She shouldn't be in AP if she didn't get the white paper.

Heat or health?

If it's heat then there are things you can do to help her whilst she is over there. I am sure people with other children have to deal with it in her country. What do they do?

If it's a serious health condition, is your daughter a us citizen? If she has a serious health condition you might want to consider just bringing her as sometimes ap can take a while, they are doing more checks on your wife including that answers she gave at the interview are being checked.

You cant rush AP, it will be done when it's done. Sometimes if they find an inconsistency during ap they will ask for documents, have another interview, or deny but don't dwell on this as some countries just have long ap more than others it seems.

No, the fact that she didn't get a 221g slip is great!!
