Hi,

my spouse is in the US military and there is a strong possibility of her being stationed overseas. I recently got my green card in June, which states I couldn't be out of the country for more than 6 months a year.
Does USCIS recognize a US military base as a US residence? Will I be able to accompany my spouse to their overseas base or will I have to stay behind for the duration of her orders?

She thinks she's had a coworker with a greencard holder spouse who has accompanied because they said that USCIS recognizes military instillations as US residence, but I just want to double check..

Any advice or help would be very much appreciated!

You can to but you both make sure that your name is on her pcs orders. Once you move you notify uscis about the change of address and there is an option to check if you're on the overseas orders. Your time outside US will not count as a time outside of the US as long as you're on the orders. You can remove conditions on your green card from overseas also. Perks of being a military spouse.

I'm 99% sure that it doesn't matter if you live off or on post, as long as you're on the orders you should be fine. :)  (ps. we just pcs-ed to Germany)

If you are joining your spouse overseas, and you are on her orders as accompanied, then there is the option to expedite the naturalization process :)

Thank you so much!
I've heard so many good things about the base in Germany! As of right now it's looking like England or Japan but we'll find out soon enough :)

I didn't know I could expedite that, and depending on how soon we'd have to leave I might be able to get that done. Thank you!! :)
