  As to the current topic, seems to be several years in a row that the average temperature has been the highest on record. At some point we will reach critical mass. Whether that's caused by climate, population or something else remains to be seen. When that happens, humans being what they are, I'm sure everyone will all aboard the ecology train. I don't know about saving the planet, but I do see a drastic improvement in the air and water quality in Boston.  It took a few decades to change but the improvement is clearly visible from years ago. Emissions regulations on autos and industry have worked.

Agree. We have come a long way since love canal, dead rivers , smog outs etc. The EPA needs an overhaul but anybody who thinks it is not necessary is insane.  No one here is arguing that protecting the environment is not important. 

 

All we are saying is there is a lot of hyperbole, politics and money driving the whole global warming movement and it is not settled science.

It's religious.  Look how the lies and manipulation has caused fear and panic among our most vulnerable people...especially our youth.  Hammered into their minds of mush since they were old enough to watch tv. They have been told repeatedly that they are going to die a horrible death while they are still young. It's a disgrace.

Yes. There's logic behind not polluting the immediate air we breathe and our drinking water. I'm on board with that.

 

I forget which parts that came about that helped reduce car smog.. was it catalytic converters? Or maybe that just helped reduce the chances of people killing themselves with CO (glares at dad).

 

In this regards emission standards are great already, don't need the other BS.

I am all for clean air and clean water, and I agree there have been big strides in the emissions of ICEs.  I think this is one of the reasons CO2 is now the pollutant of interest.  Even though CO2 is actually plant food, they have to go after something now that the levels of other gases are coming down.

We have in the US, but there are a lot of places all over the world that are atrocious.  There is a city in Russia, Norilsk, whee the nickel pollution is so rampant that it is now economical to recover the nickel from the surrounding land surface.
