A very refreshing post. I moved from the UK to USA to be with my husband I am step-mom to his 2 children. I co-parent 100% with his ex-wife and we are good friends. We attend school events together, appointments, have coffee together, and text /call most days. I agree with some of the responses of maybe you guys relocating to be near ex-wife. It would be more plausible. Bother families close together. Do what's more beneficial to the kids. In an ideal world I would of wanted to stay in the UK, but I went where my step-children were. Either way, I wish you and your new family all the best.

My question for people who know more than me about these things: if the father moved to the US, lived here three years and became a US citizen, then petitioned for his under-age-18 children, would they then be eligible for citizenship the moment they arrived in the US on immigrant visas? And so then able to move between the US and Europe as they wished?

After naturalization, his minor children may already have become citizens under him (some rules apply)...read about it here:
