We're having the big formal church wedding on Saturday in Connecticut. The weekend forecast SAYS that Saturday will be sunny with a 10 % chance of precipitation ..... but please send some good sunshine vibes my way :) I am not trusting this crazy New England weather.

It rained AND snowed on our New England wedding day.

Our photographer tried to make me feel better by saying that sunshine is not actually good light for photographs.

But honestly, I barely noticed. Or cared.

A bit of a rant here: I just spoke to my father and the favors that I had ordered (supposed to be delivered today) have not arrived!!!! ARGH! Yes, I know that was probably cutting it a bit short, having them arrive today, but honestly, if you saw my father's house, you would understand that if the favors appeared a week or more ago, they would disappear into the abyss, never to be found again

Also, cross fingers that the best man has no problems crossing at the border. We've already had one groomsman tell us he could not come and one of my bridesmaids did the same thing(LAST WEEK)!!!

Trying so hard to stay calm through all this and just go with the flow, but dang I just want to scream sometimes!!!

Honestly, I'd be surprised if there was any water left in the sky after this past weekend.

We had an outdoor wedding in RI. All morning it was storming away, mother in law was a mess, lol She was about to move things inside, when us guys said, I think it is clearing, lucky for us it did, whewww And we al lknow, us guys are always correct, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Maybe I'm dense, but I'm not quite sure I understand the importance of "clear, sunny weather" if you're getting married inside a church. I could see why it'd be important if you were having an outside wedding, but if it's inside, what difference does it make if it's sunny and clear skies or overcast and potentially rainy?

It shouldn't have any bearing on your wedding. Those who wish to come will do so, and those who're looking for an excuse not to be there, will find some way of not showing up. I'm sure it'd be nice if the weather cooperated, but barring anything extreme, I'm sure the wedding will proceed as normal and everyone who wants to be there will show up.

Maybe I'm missing something though? I'm not sure. If I am, please tell me.

Doesnt most want a sunny nice day for a wedding?? many get pics taken outside, which can be hard to do in the rain? Hope the day turns out near perfect.

Ah yes... there may be pictures taken outside, and the rain might ruin that. I hadn't thought about that scenario.

I've never been to a wedding before.

Yup, it is the pics that I am the most concerned about. It means a lot to my husband that we take some pictures by the ocean (at our reception) ... so much that the time of the ceremony is earlier than I had wanted, so that we will have enough light to take good pics.

There have been many of his friends and family from Canada who had said they would attend and then have recently said that they cannot afford to come. Definitely understandable, but I feel bad for him and just want something to go his way :)

<send goods sunny vibes> :)

I hope you have a wonderful wedding day :)

PS. If it does turn out to be a rainy day(Im crossing my fingers that its not) you can check with your photograph if he'll possibly reschedule the photo shoot for the next day - for the outside pictures anyways. When I met with my photograph, he said if my wedding day ends up being rainy, he'll do the outside pictures the next day, free of charge. Worth looking into ;)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you for a sunshiny day!

We were married just over a week ago. Outside garden wedding. We had the air conditioner on for two days a week prior to the wedding. On the wedding day, we broke a 1939 record. It was 18 degrees and VERY windy.

You know what? We never felt the cold....

Hoping your day is spectacular!

Hoping the best for the weekend.. Or at least all the rain will fall on some other county than the one you are in :)

Someone once told me the chance of all out spilling down rain is very very slim. It just doesn't happen too often. Which brought me comfort on my 1st wedding.

On a wedding day it could be cold - I saw a wedding party in October (dressed in full summer clothes), get in their winter jackets until just before the pictures and then jump out and take a quick snap - then run in side for hot chocolate. It added to the "funness" of the day believe it or not.

Then at my 1st wedding it sprinkled. Middle of August and it was an overcast day and the FULL wedding was outdoors. But on one minded a few spirts of rain it never got anyone wet, and the pictures as a result of lack of full on sun were BEAUTIFUL. And we took some nice shots with umbrellas :)

Anyway I say all that to say.. I'm rooting for NO rain! :)
