After the USCIS approval and NOA2, how did you know when to apply for the visa and submit DS160? Did the Islamabad embassy inform you that they are ready to accept you visa application and fees?

After Approval NOA2 , USCIS will transfer your case to NVC for further processing , case usually gets transferred to embassy within a month or so and then embassy will contact the beneficiary via email, then you can submit DS-160 and pay your visa fee at Allied bank.

His case was transferred on July 13th to Islamabad, but we still have not heard anything from the embassy. He has not received any email. It’s virtually impossible to get a response out of them.

You will hear from them soon , K1 petition is valid for 4 months & embassy is aware of that , keep checking your emails spam, junk etc sometimes it ends up there. However till then start preparing your documents. Make sure you have all the documents in order to avoid AP.

If you have case number already starts with ISL , you can go ahead and fill out the DS-160. It is valid for one year.
