My fiance is currently completing all the documents required for the Fiance Visa. We have not submitted it yet.

Can I apply for a tourist visa so I can come visit him while it's being processed?

Yes, you can apply for a tourist visa while your fiance's I-129F petition is being processed.  However, in my opinion, you would be wasting your money because you would have a very slim chance of being approved unless you are related to Duterte or Pacman.

Sure, you can visit with a tourist visa, and can apply for one fine. What are your ties to PI?

Hi kabayan,

Yes you can definitely apply for a tourist visa but that will be a 70% - 30%.

70% chance of being declined

30% chance of being aprroved

I have a friend who tried applying for a tourist visa while waiting for their NOA2 ( K1 Visa) and during the interview for her tourist visa application she was asked tons of questions and the CO asked her ties with the philippines. She was also asked what was the purpose of her visit and why can't she not wait for the approval of her k1 visa. Teachnically she was asked by the CO to decide whether she wants to risk her chance of getting and approved K1 Visa or get an approval on her tourist visa.

Unless you can prove to them that you have huge amount of savings, there might be a 50% - 50% of you getting approved for your tourist visa.

I am currently working as Engineer here in Qatar. So I don't have any properties here. But, our house in the Philippines is under my name and my sister. Will that be enough?

The job as an engineer is good (albeit if it's in certain fields it may trigger additional AP for security checks from Qatar). The property isn't a tie...you aren't living there now so it's not really a compelling reason to return.

Sigh. Hi Kabayan. I am here in Qatar. And we met here in Doha but he went back to the US 3 months ago. I only want to process the tourist visa to spend Christmas with him. I'm not sure if it's easier to get a tourist visa here than in the Philippines.

But you're right. I think I will have a hard time getting a tourist visa once we processed the K1 Visa.

Thanks for your reply btw. :)

My mom was granted a multiple entry visa a few years ago. I wish I applied with her then. But now, it has become very strict which makes it difficult to obtain a tourist visa.

I don't have any idea if its easier to get a tourist visa in doha or manila.

But who knows you might be granted a tourist visa. :)

Yeah, you are right. The only documents I can present are:

  • Letter of employment with job title, length of service, and monthly salary
  • Bank statement for the last 6 months (Here in Qatar)

I don't think it's enough either.

I hope so. :) Thank you, Kabayan. Ingat ka diyan sa UAE. :)

Unfortunately, Philippines is not one of the 38 countries that you are allowed to visit the US on the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA.). That is how my fiancé was able to come and visit for 90 days last year before his K1 visa was approved. Also, we had not yet filed our paperwork before he visited. We did that while he was here. Best of luck to you. 😊

Thank you. Sorry for the late reply. Thanks again. :)
