I need to call USCIS to get my receipt number for my i-612, so that then I can update my mailing address.. (I will never receive Noa1 since they have my dom rep address.. mail gets lost way too often)

is my understanding that when you call they will get someone to call you back,

my question is:

is this a scheduled call back? (Do they tell you when they will call?

and if not? When should I expect it aproximately?

Im currently traveling and Im trying to figure out if I can just stay in a place with internet the day of the callback, so I can answer it or if should I wait until I get home and I know I will have phone access (american phone number) 24/7?

Thanks

I had a similar issue -- I am stationed abroad and accidentally listed my overseas address as my mailing address so I never received my NOA1.

When I called, because I did not have my case number, they said they would escalate me. Then I was greeted by an automated prompt which asked me to punch in the number I would like to receive a call-back at. It also told me my place in line. I went to bed, and about three or four hours later my phone rang with a USCIS supervisor on the line. She asked my name, SSN, DOB, and my spouse/applicant's name and DOB and then was able to give me my case number over the phone and also process a change-of-address request. I was thoroughly impressed.

oh wow!! that was a fast call back!!

In my case the Department of State is the one that sends the form to USCIS.. and even though they ask for "current address" and "mailing address" they only give USCIS the current address (In my case out of the US and with terrible mail).. So now I have to call USCIS and do all that jazz to update my mailing address.. You make it sound so easy though...^_^

Thanks for the answer!
