I turned in my i-129 a month ago I called yesterday and they said they would do a request for expedited services due to humanitarian reasons since Mindanao is a bit of a dangerous place right now due to terrorist threat and it is under martial law. If approved what kind of timeline can I expect ?

Posted (edited)

There's no fixed timeline still, but generally it's a matter of days to get the NOA2. Then it still takes about a month to go to NVC, get processed, and then received by the embassy. You will need to expedite again at the embassy stage to get an appointment sooner....it doesn't carry over from USCIS. After the interview, if approved, expect a week or so to get the visa (USEM + 2GO are pretty fast).

Even if expedited, certain things can cause delays: RFEs and delayed background check results at the I-129F stage, negative medical results, a 221g visa refusal pending more/missing documents (at the interview), extended AP after the interview, etc.

My Fiancee is just a few hundred miles from the town where the ISIS supporters took over.

The USCIS will take your request but doubtful they will grant it.

Mindanao is still relatively safe unless she happens to be living in Marawi.

Your fiancee is much more likely to be involved in a motor accident than a terrorist incident.

Please let us know how the request plays out.

There are literally HUNDREDS of fiancee's on Mindanao who's petitioners are awaiting NOA 2.

I'm actually heading to that region in just a few weeks. Not Marawi city of course.

Sounds like AP may take a bit longer.

So once your expedited process was approved how long was it till they approved everything amd you were able to do mwdical and interview? Is there anything I can do to help improve my chances of getting expedited service? They asked me if I was a service member which I found a little odd, hopefully that helps or I will canvas Sen. McCain to help me.

If you are being deployed that would be a cause for an expedite. So that would certainly help.

No more deployments for this guy,  I'm retired. Well looks like if it's expedited I can expect another month and if not it's anywhere from 2-5 more months.  Hopefully it stays on the shorter end.

Thanks for all the info and not just foisting me off on the search function. I appreciate the time you all have taken.

I was in sasarangani when Martial Law was declared, didn't feel that much different and yes where we stay is relatively safe but they had some people plant some bombs in a public area. The bombs were reported by good Intel sources and the bomb maker and accomplices were escorted off this earth ala Philippines justice style.

My request for expedited service was granted. I made my case and just found out today 13 days after I submitted the requested "proof". I didn't lie about anything either just laid out the reasons why I was worried for their health and welfare and got fortunate.

That's great news. Which part of Mindanao does your fiancee live? I am from Mindanao too. Waiting for NOA2 101 days now.
