Which NBI do I submit to the NVC? (personal copy or original?)

So I am petitioning Filipina wife in Kuwait (where we live), but the steps are the same as if we were in Pinas. Right now we are at the NVC stage, preparing to submit our packet.

My question is, my wife received an NBI clearance and had it red ribboned. I cannot photocopy it because of the authentication coversheet with the red ribbon.

So would it be alright to submit a photocopy of the "Personal Copy" to the NVC? Or do they require the original? I know in the past they required originals but now their instructions state to only send photocopies. I don't want to get an RFE because I submitted the wrong NBI certificate -- has anyone else experienced this recently?

Thanks!

NBI with a red ribbon.. must of been requested through the Philippine embassy in Kuwait?    (is it a green colored NBI form?)

I know for the embassy here they want the original of the NBI ... but NVC is a different critter, still I know that most documents are emailed to them.  I lean towards; follow the instructions from NVC.

Just copy on only, My NBI no red ribbon at all, The NVC and Kuwait Embassy accept my NBI with no ribbon. During interview they need only the original NBI even no red ribbon.

I haven't heard of any Embassy requiring "red ribbon" documents which is a Philippines tradition. If possible error on the side of logic. The Embassy is not going to shy away from accepting an original document. So, when in doubt submit the original but have copies available at the interview in the event they give you the option of which to submit.

This is for NVC.  Immigrant visa.   copies are very normal

I called the NVC and the lady I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. She said that if I am worried, I can include a written letter (including my case number, name, and applicant's name) stating that this is the only version of the NBI I am able to provide and the original will be presented at the interview.

Hi there! How did it go?? I am currently based in Canada and at nvc stage now. I lived in the Philippines for so many years. I do have an nbi clearance which I got under my maiden name. I got married here in Canada and never returned to the Philippines even after I got married. The only nbi clearance I have is the one with “personal copy” stamped at the front page. Is it okay to submit this at nvc and interview??

Not sure you will get a reply.  That posting is 4 + years ago.

NVC wants a copy of the original uploaded

Thank you for your response! So the other half of the nbi clearance that has the “personal copy” is not acceptable??
