It 100% does NOT matter what you put on that check. They WILL cash it and if the check has been cancelled the file will be returned to your fiance for lack of payment.

If you want to avoid delays DON'T cancel the check.

If you want to delay your process then canceling the perfectly good check WILL delay it for you.

Please listen to the members here.

If you he has already voided the check then you should wait until he gets the packet back.

Do not send another file until the old one is returned or he will just create more problems

You don't want 2 files in the system.

how long do you think it will take to return our packet?

They need to attempt to cash the check first.

Once it comes back as voided then they will return the file.

No way to know for sure before the end of the month if I had to guess.

my fiance received an email from USCIS and says our application has been routed to California Service Center for processing and will received an official receipt in 7-10 days. That mean our check was ok till my fiance voided it. so it doesnt matter if your not that specific putting name on the check. my question is why are they going to process our case if the check was voided?

Not for nothing the USCIS hotline is also called the "misinformation hotline". THey also told everyone of the February filers that used the outdated forms that they were going to return their packages since they needed the new forms. Didn't happen. Everyone who was a few days over the expiry date still had their forms processed just fine without anyone having them get returned. I personally would've not voided the check but just waited it out to see whether they would still accept it.

I wish I knew this before... We originally sent our I-129F in June, close to when they stopped accepting the old version of the form. The person on the phone basically told us that ours was too late and won't be accepted, and that we should just mail the new form separately, which we did. We never received a notification of any kind, but they assured us that everything's alright and even told us that our petition should be approved soon a few weeks ago. But as we never received anything back, we kept calling and e-mailing them and finally found out that our petition was either lost or never even reached them at all.

So here we are, back at the beginning. Just mailed the whole thing again 2 days ago. I hope there won't be any problems this time. :)
