Visa Journey Community,

I am a US citizen who applied for K1 visa for someone who I was engaged with. He came to US on the K1 visa and we got married here in the US. Upon getting married, he received his SS and Work Permit. However prior to applying for 2 year GC, I started noticing that he was cheating on me and his obvious intentions was to only marry me for GC. The marriage didn't work and he end up leaving the country as I denied to file for his 2 year conditional GC. Upon returning back to his country, he sent me legal divorce paper stating that he from his side is ending the marriage.

Question 1: What do I have to do to file for divorce in the US court system? What type of documents do I need to provide, where should I go to file for divorce is the US system?

Question 2: How can I contact ICE to report him and make sure he doesn't screw up someone else life?

I would appreciate if someone here can answer my questions.

Thanks

Question #1; Proceed with a divorce the normal way. You will be filing for divorce in the US so it will be treated as such.  You will inform you lawyer that your ex is abroad and they will handle notifying him accordingly.

Forget about question #2. What is done is done. You can report his actions and they MAY note it for future checks there is no guarantee. ICE has bigger fish to fry and your ex is out of the country already. Best to divorce and move on. You have already saved yourself a lot of headache and pain.

Can I file for divorce without involving lawyer? They charge a lot of fees and I don't want to go thru this process if it is possible?

Yes you can file for divorce online since it is an uncontested divorce. Check your state court sites, you just need to submit the documents he sent you and then apply for divorce.

Since he is out of the country, there is nothing you can do about reporting him.

Use Google to search for online divorce sites, there are third party sites that prepares the paperwork if you can't go to your court house.

You have pulled the I 864 so that just leaves Divorce, and that is a State matter.
