The whole Filipino Cupid thing is very common in the Philippines. They basically try to talk to as many as possible to see which one sticks so to speak, the other more nefarious thing is that ask for money from all these men and make a good living from then. I feel bad for them honestly because they are desperately trying to find a way out of abject poverty and to break the cycle of getting pregnant early.

Oh wow. Didn't know it was a whole thing. that must suck for people going through real relationships, I understand the need to get out of poverty and I do feel bad as well, but the whole thing about playing with people's emotions? I don't know.  These poor fools fall for them. Also for those who do actually fall in love because I know real relationships do come out of high fraud countries, things are more difficult. If I can say so myself.

You can pretty much tell that is the case because he said he hasn't got any since his x-wife left him like 11 years ago. Gosh 11 years, I think I would go crazy. Yeah I have met people that have gone through this and have fallen for someone that my wife and I knew was scamming them. It's pretty obvious when the guy comes there and they go to a different island for "vacation" than her home island, and she never allows the guy to meet her family at all. Usually the girl says that "it's not safe for them to visit her family" all the while the girl is scamming him and a couple other guys.

 

I met a guy when I was on vacation with my now wife that was being scammed, and I felt bad for him. We talked a good bit at bat of the resort we were at at the time. It turns out that he was a soy bean farmer from Nebraska on vacation to meet and spend time with his "gf". She supposedly lived in Manila but was from my wife's province in Mindanao. She had the guy believing that it was way to dangerous to go there for Americans, and that's why he couldn't meet her family. I told him it's not dangerous because I go there all the time and I was going there in 2 days anyway after leaving Bohol.

 

Gosh you should have seen her face when he said told her all that about what I said to him. If her eyes were daggers then she would have killed me on the spot with her eyes. Literally it was like if looks could kill.

Wow!!! She ruined her face!!! And the cheap hair extensions don't help either. She always has something around her neck, Im guessing because of wrinkles and sun damage. Her sister is pretty though.

that is absolutely horrible.  I would doubt everything and everyone. 

My husband likes to joke that I am clearly not doing it for his money, since I usually make about the same /more than him sometimes. He doesn't send any, we pay for our own thing and see each other as often as possible for now. But I'm sure people will inevitably question our relationship or intentions at some point, or at the beginning. Seeing things like these happen, I can clearly see why. It seems that a lot of people out there are scammers/trying to scam.

totally agree. having a twin sister show how disastrous you look in comparison like a before/after commercial for sunscreen and to prevent people from having unnecessary surgeries must be rough. I can see the Donatella Versace in the making! you are absolutely right. it really is a shame, she was beautiful

yeah we both bring money to the table, and we each pay for his/her plane tickets, we pay everything else between the two of us. I'm lucky I am able to. I understand many people can't and its nice that you were able to help her like that. 

I read it, wow. I guess it's a way of life? kind of like it is in some other parts known to be high fraud, like Nigeria or Ghana. Even though it's a terrible thing to do, some of these people being scammed lack common sense too, or they don't want to hear when people tell them they're being used.
