Booked through AirBnB?

I've only rented from airbnb, I've never been a host.

From what I can tell though the hosts can set it up so that a renter is automatically approved (you can filter for that when you are searching for a place) or if you need to approve them first. The host then has a certain amount of time to "approve" the request to stay.

When you are creating your profile it encourages you to include a photo, bio etc and in the early days when I made my account it even said "The more you put in the more likely the host will approve you" or something like that.

My whole point has just been that while I agree that these people are horrible human beings, I don't think it is in the hands of the Airbnb corporation to discriminate and refuse them. I realize it is in their TOS but I don't think those TOS will fly in court if challenged (again based on my horrible lack of legal expertise).

I DO think those people should be refused, but I think it needs to be on the level of the individual home owners deciding who they want to host.

I think Airbnb has to act like a hotel. A hotel unfortunately can't kick these people out before they stay. A private home owner can however.

AirBnB is a booking service, like Booking.com or Expedia.

Many types of properties from someone renting a room for $10 a night to mega mansions over $10,000 a night, Hotels use them, Resorts, all sorts on there.

Citing concerns for security and safety, Charlottesville officials on Monday said they will approve a demonstration permit for Saturday’s Unite the Right rally organized by pro-white activists if the rally is moved to McIntire Park.

But Jason Kessler, who is organizing the rally, says he won’t accept the condition because McIntire Park lacks the symbolism provided by the statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee that has stood in Emancipation Park, recently renamed from Lee Park, since the 1920s.

That is exactly my point. Booking service is a much better comparison.

I don't think the booking service should be the one to discriminate. They are just a middle man.

If the individual private home owners renting their space want to deny someone, that is different. Airbnb is just there to connect a host with a renter.

If you want to use any online site you have to have an account, I have a BA account, and United but they have never asked my why I am travelling.

I know what air bnb is trust me, my coworker uses it to rent out a unused room in his house. But I am sure someone can make the case for it being discriminatory or at least try to.

I wonder what the narrative would be if they had refused someone that was out of town to attend a BLM riot

Obviously #BLM and #HandsUp will be treated the same.

Otherwise it would be discriminatory.

just like the tos we agree to when posting here, aryan pos agree to air bnb tos and didn't make the mark, air bnb reserves the right to cancel their stay.

Apparently you are correct as the AirBnB TOS allows discrimination based on political views.  Kind of a loop hole, I wonder if Caitlyn can be denied based on her being a conservative?

Depends as AirBnB TOS allows political discrimination, so if you agree politically with #BLM, I guess that is just fine.
