I am in the States!!

Hey guys,

So I am finally in the states...i got here on April 15th at 7:08 p.m. All the flights were on time. wonderful!

I took Garuda Indonesia from Surabaya to Singapore (overnighted) - total flight duration 2 hrs

Then I took Northwest from Sin to Tokyo, Tokyo to Detroit, and Detroit to Norfolk - totalk flight duration about 20 hrs

(btw from singapore to tokyo, they actually asked lots of things before and during check in...oh ya, they might ask you to buy a plastic zip lock bag for your liquids and lotion stuff...like mascara, toothpaste, etc)

The flight from Sin to Tokyo was fine but from Tokyo to Detroit...eh...NW12 sucked. It's a damn huge airplane but did not have personal TV/entertainment. I could not sleep for the whole ride from Indonesia to the US btw....and that made me feel sick. The weather got really bad when I flew from Detroit to Norfolk, it was raining, strong wind and clouds formed here and there..it was the bumpiest ride ever had. But, I got to Norfolk on time, so...eh...at least that was good hahah..

So DTW was a nice POE. When I got out of the plane, I had to line up on the visitor's line....i got out as fast as i could but the ine was already LONG...haha. But after a while the officers told us to move to the US Citizens and PR's line cuz it was shorter. The CBP officer who processed me was young, nice and quite funny hehe... but he did not know how to process a K-1..LOL. So he called his friend with a "yo!"....lol... and his friends helped him to process me. It was a short 15 mins wait till he stamped my I-94 and stapled it inside my passport. Oh ya, before interviewing me, the CBP officer took my left and right finger prints and told me to look into the web cam to take my pic. That was it, I was not sent to any rooms for biometric. After that I went to grab my lugagge.

The woman in the custom was ok...erm... I just declared 2000 bucks of articles that i brought to the states so she just told me to pass through without sending me to a room for secondary prcessing..yay.

I was told to take off my shoes after custom, and put them into the X-RAY along with my handbag and luggage..and seems like everybody had to do that, even the US Citizens. But that was it. No stress at all. I caught my connecting flight and I got enough spare time to go to the bathroom and stuff hehehe.

I have a bad news tho... I am sick now...like i have bee having a fever for 2 days, 103 F...damn. Head is dizzy...sux... the fact that i could no sleep on the plane, the long ride and the sudden weather changes might did this to me. Ah... the last thing i wanna do is to come here and be sick, and make my sweety busy taking care of me..

I took some night quills but they didnt do anything much.

Glad all went went well, I spent a few days in Surabay and Singapore when I was in the Cdn navy. Glad all went well. "probably" just sick with ur body not used to the new germs,lol But if ur not feeling better soon, especially with that high fever, best to see a Dr.

The good news is you're here (and got to use the bathroom before your next flight )...

Medications?..hmm.. it's Feed a fever and starve a cold right?...

I always suggest Zinc - it helps your immune system...it's in the vitamin/mineral section everywhere..

She still keep some Indonesian meds, esp the cold & headache meds.

Just so you know, with the security at airports, doesn't matter where your from ,if the airport makes you de-shoe, then EVERYONE de-shoes. I remember DTW doing that before. I just wanted to say that!

Glad your there though and made it ok! Sorry your sick. Zinc and Vitamin C is good to take, and tylenol takes down fevers, and get some rest!

hey guys, thanks a lot for the responds!

i am a lot better today..like 98.2F hehe....yay..still having the medicine head tho.

well guys, so far i..think i like the place where we live. we only need to drive for 1-2 minutes to find nice restaurants, walmart, banks, post offices, etc.

i am still trying to get used to the fact that everything is pretty much the opposite! the doors, the cars, etc..frustrate me all the time when i always run to joel's side of the car instead of mine...or when i could not find the seat belt on the LEFT side of the passanger's side....DOH!

oh one more thing..at first i thought it was nice when i found that when you get into any stores, the staff would say hello and how are you, and my fiance has always been nice, saying hello back and smile. But after a while, I realize, maybe it is more of an obligation instead of trying to be friendly...lol...cuz they actually dont look into your eyes and smile when they say hi and stuff. Or, when we went to a mini market one time, the cashier woman said hello and the customer didnt even say anything....i guess they got bored of the casual hellos and stuff? haha.. but anyways....i have seen lots of things that are different to my country.. maybe i should make a list next time.
