I864 and 2006 tax transcript

Hi,

I'm just about to submit my I-485, but I guess I've run into a snag now.

The Affidavit of support requires tax transcripts for the most recent tax year, which would be 2006. But my US Citizen spouse has filed the 2006 tax returns only a few days ago. I do have the tax transcripts for 2005 and a couple of years before that (got for my K3), will this be okay? Or should I wait until I can obtain the 2006 transcript? Not even sure how long to wait before I can request for the 2006 scripts.

Just when I thought I'm ready to apply :-(

I am planning on sending a copy of what I filed for 2006 (not a transcript) + W2's. I believe this is acceptable for the I-864, and I know other VJ'ers have done that as well.

You should definitely send 2006 if you've filed it. Hold onto 2005 in case they request it for the interview.

You can send a copy of his tax return for 2006 (if he did it online he can print that or if he mailed it, a signed copy of his return) AND his W-2s for 2006, also send a letter from his employer stating his income AND/OR 3 months worth of pay stubs.

Tax transcripts are not required. A copy of the 2006 1040 plus any supporting forms (W-2s, 1099s etc) will be fine.

I e-filed my taxes on the 7th and was able to request my transcript today (I wasn't able to yesterday) so I am guessing it takes 10 days

Look at my timeline below.

I ordered it last week of february.. didn't get anything til end of march and then another one a few days later.

Did you fax an order or did you call ?

That's what I said in my first message... and that's why I wanted to show him that it might take well over a month to receive something he won't need.

I applied for my 2004 and 2005 tax transcripts and sent a copy of my 1040 for 2006.
