I don't listen to that part but his focus on fundamentals (gold fetish aside) to me remains far above that of central banks.

lol...terrible gold fetish indeed. A 5 year old understands fundamentals better than central banks. Central banks have exhibited such unbelievable and staggering short sightedness time and time again over the last couple of decades, it's truly remarkable that there's still really anybody left out there willing to support their policies. Btw it's not like John's a right wing nut or anything...he's actually very liberal, one of his mentors is Jimmy Carter. Sure knows his stuff when it comes to that though.

If you have 2 functional legs and arms, and at least a semi-functional brain, you should be disqualified from receiving federal aid.

Lazy isn't a disability.

And our tax money should be used to be necessities like bread, milk, and eggs.  Not frozen foods, fresh lobster, sugary drinks.  The other day, I was in BJ's Wholesale Club and people in front of me bought $300 worth of household items (including food, soda, snacks).  Then they swiped the white card and, like magic, almost $200 of the total disappeared.  The remaining balance they paid by credit card.

I totally agree with you on this. Also at least out here in California you can use food stamps to go buy fast food at McDonalds, BK, Carl's Jr, Jack in the Box, and the companies actually advertise that. I had family come out here from NC and they though that it was crazy.

When I was a kid, the food stamps were paper, not debit card.  Almost every bodega (Hispanic corner store) would buy food stamps for 50¢ on the dollar.  Girls had more kids ONLY to get more food stamps and what they used to call government assistance which was CASH.

Now that they have the card, it's not as easy, but my downstairs neighbor takes her friends shopping on her FS card.  She charges the same 50¢ on the dollar.  She asked my wife she if she was interested.  I told my wife not to even think about it.  I will not be part of that corruption.

They still do this but it is much harder as you said. My x-wife was on food stamps when she had custody of my kids and I was working abroad. She got $500 a month in food stamps for the kids all the while I was sending $2k a month for child support. She would then go down to a store she knew that would take the food stamps for alcohol and cigarettes.

I know your white-privileged, sheltered, suburban life doesn't allow you to comprehend what happens in poor neighborhoods, but give it another shot.

Sounds way too anecdotal. Do you have peer reviewed papers to back up this claim?

There's definitely some abuse, I know for a fact there's abuse in poorer neighborhoods in Milwaukee. I think no matter left or right we can all agree there's a certain degree of abuse in the system, some might think it's to a lesser extent than others...but you need to be blind to say there's no abuse whatsoever.
