Hey guys, I'm confused, just got my NOA1 but only for me, nothing for my son, he was included in my petition, does anyone know if that's ok if they didn't send them together, I'm getting nervous.

hi :)

the same happened to us (my son and I) and as far as I know- to many other VJ folks who have dependents on their I-751..

I even called to UCIS and got a Tier 2 IO on hold, twice ;) Both times I was told his NOA1 was sent along with mine, but we've never received this.. So we waited 30 days since my NOA1 and ended up , making an InfoPass appointment and getting  I-551 stamp in son's passport. Green card was kept by USCIS in exchange for a stamp.

I'd also recommend to call USCIS if nothing arrives for your son any time soon OR along with your biometric appointment notice.  Try to get a Tier 2 Immigration Officer on hold - people who answer first, usually know nothing about a dependent on I-751 and  suggest you to file a service request which means you will wait another 30 days... for nothing,  most likely ...

Sorry you 'are experiencing this - I've just been 'there' so completely understand how it feels...

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the reply. I can't believe that. Will do the same you did if they don't send it, still have a hope it will come separately...

You are welcome... Seems like it's a new "trend" - not sending NOA 1 for a dependent :(

Anyway..  I'd also recommend to call USCIS if nothing arrives for your son any time soon OR along with your biometric appointment notice.  Try to get a Tier 2 Immigration Officer on hold - people who answer first, usually know nothing about a dependent on I-751 and  suggest you to file a service request which means you will wait another 30 days... for nothing,  most likely ..

Thanks again, at least now I know that somebody else experienced the same. Just hung up with tier1, which of course was not helpful at all. Scheduled a call back with tier2, waiting for it, hope they will tell me smth, if now, then I guess will go for infopass. It's crazy

Hi.. Hope you got a helpful Tier 2 on hold yesterday..

just one small remark :) - you should take your NOA1 with you for your InfoPass appointment. This was the first thing an IO asked for - she wanted to see it and make sure there is no dependent mentioned in MY NOA1. ..I wonder why it even should be..??? .Anyway, after that she took son's passport and got it stamped.

Also, make a copy of your son's green card - in case if it's gonna be kept by USCIS in exchange for a stamp. Sometimes they don't take it, but you never know until  you are at the USCIS office ;)

Hi Ksenia.

Thanks so much for the advises you gave to me. Yes I had a call with tier1 first, she was not helpful as usual, then scheduled a call back with tier2 he called me back and after a few seconds of talking we got disconnected. I was so mad. Now have to call all over again and try to get tier2 to figure this out.

I really hope to get a letter for him cuz we have another problem, my son was added to my passport, so basically he doesn't have his own document, and if we do need to get that stamp and give his GC in exchange it makes me worry. Anyway will try today again and give an update.

Thanks again dear.

You are very welcome, Inna!!

Hopefully you'll get a letter...  If not, you should be able to get them to create a different stamped document (other people have done this when their passports were expired). If you go in with 2 passport- style photos they can generate a different piece of paper (maybe an I-94 or so) with the stamp on it.

Also, when I got disconnected, I called back and as soon as someone 'alive" picked the phone I  told right away that I was scheduled to talk to a Tier 2 IO and got disconnected.. It helped and I was transferred to a Tier 2 again with no issues... Try :)

 Good luck, girl!!!

So just finished speaking with immigration officer, he put a service request on my behalf for a missing NOA, he didn't suggest to get a stamp, he said my son should get his own NOA. At least it's good that he didn't send me for an infopass right away. Now I have to wait for the notice from USCIS no later than Aug.23. Will see if it works, I really hope so.

I finally talked to someone at USCIS (tier 2) and they told me that there was a receipt number for the daughter...  However they told me that I need to make an appointment at the local office and get a stamp in her passport.  I asked if they could just send a NOA for her.  He said they could not. I explained that not all countries accept a stamp in the passport...  He said that the US would allow her to leave and return with that stamp.  I replied that was not the concern, it was if the airline would let her on the plane. His reply was that the majority of countries accept the stamp. I said I wasn't comfortable with that....  He said you have the receipt number, make an appointment at your local office and then he hung up.  My local office is an hour and half away.  When I try to make an appointment it says there are no available appointments available try again tomorrow. The foot note says they only show the appointments for 14 days in advance.  Of course there is no phone number just for NSC.  By the way we got our bio-metrics appointment for both my wife and her daughter....  seems ridiculous that they recognize her but can't send an original NOA letter.  Any one have any suggestions....  has anyone been successful in getting a NOA that didn't come in the beginning???

@Keny I would call again and hopefully you'll get to talk to a more knowledgeable Tier-2 officer.

Long story short, I filed ROC for my wife and step daughter. They never got their NOA's but the daughter received her biometrics appointment letter in the mail (but wife never did.) The biometrics letter contains her CR189 Receipt Number. Using the daughter's receipt number, I called USCIS and inquired about my wife's CR189 Receipt Number, which was subsequently given to me by a Tier-2 officer (he looked it up using the daughter's receipt number because she was a dependent on the i-751.) Then, with their receipt numbers, I went to the USCIS website and registered for a myUSCIS account, added their receipt numbers, and was able to find out that the original NOA's had been sent a few days after they received the i-751. So I waited 30 days and called USCIS back. The Tier-2 officer created a SR to request duplicated NOA's (or replacement if you will) be sent to both of them. We got the duplicated NOA's a week later. The date on the duplicated NOA's is a couple of days after the officer initiated the SR.

So, in other words, a Tier-2 officer should be able to create a SR to request NOA replacements.

Top photo is the replacement NOA for the wife. Note the word "Replacement Receipt" on the NOA.

This one is for the daughter. Her blurred A-number and name are shown under BENEFICIARY section.
