I'd recommend you to do payment using money orders. Don't seal your envelope. You can go to the USPS and make 2 money orders in following way:

$1000 & $225 and that totals to $1225 (total fees which includes biometrics fees too) and make you write "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" on the money order. Once you finished, paperclip that on the first page of your  file instead of just putting it in the envelope. Seal the envelope and give it away to USPS   Good luck

Hey fellow August filers!  

I'm the US citizen and my wife the Canadian citizen.  

We mailed her AOS, EAD, AP on August 19th and just got our text/email NOA1s today, August 30th.

Good luck to everyone, and I look forward to reading everyone's experiences.  I wish everyone a smooth process!

There's no time limit?  I thought it had to be submitted before the expiration date on the visa? K-1 petitioner here.   I'm simply EXHAUSTED! My now husband has only been in the country since June 08 and it really feels like we have done a million things but still feels like we have so much left to do!  I'm so tired of writing his a number!

The most important thing is to get married within 90 days and your medicals will expire in one year from the date you've done it in the foreign country. So generally people file a few days after marriage because most of them wait for EAD. Some people who have financial issues will take time like a couple of months to save money and file. If you delay your filing your EAD & AP will also be delayed. There's no deadline but you cant work and you cant travel, so you are stuck at home.

Well that is most certainly a relief I've been running around  like crazy thinking we only had until the date the visa expires! I have most of the papers done but I still feel so lost and anxious this whole process is such a head ache!

I thought the same. But after lil research on VJ and other websites I knew that people have filed like 5-6 or nearly one year after getting married so you are good.

On my 10th day of waiting for our Biometric notification to come in but nothing yet.

Received hard copies of NOA 1 on the 21st August.

It seems like people has been getting theirs within a 2 week timeline.

Looking at your timeline, looks like everything's fine. In 3 days of sending the packet you've received your e-notifications and 5 days after that you received NOA1 in mail. You should be getting your biometrics mail by saturday or next week for sure.

Same here. We got the hard copies on the same date, and still no biometrics appointment. Getting a little worried.
