To Bernie's credit I see him very often walking downtown and just meeting with people, no security guards either. Then again, even the lieutenant governor has a stand at the Farmer's Market where he himself sells organic vegetables every Saturday for the last 20 years.

People in Vermont must be aloof from the psychopathy that envelops many urban/suburban/metro regions in the US.

It's usually more peaceful and quiet here. It's a very liberal area but you don't usually hear of any violence or anything more than a small protest. The exception to the rule was when Murray was shut down when he was going to speak in Middlebury college...that was actually quite surprising and out of character. Our Lieutenant Governor is actually from the PROGRESSIVE party(yes vermont has one) yet the Governor(who was also the previous Democratic Governor's Lieutenant) is a republican.
