Hi!!

I'm helping my best friend with the paperwork so she can apply for citizenship. She is applying base on being a resident for 5 years or more. I did my own naturalization package last year but mine was base on my marriage.

What are the supporting documents? Im almost sure she needs to add her taxes for 3 or 5 years but the info didn'tb mention taxes at all!

thank you

hi

nope, taxes aren't needed now, she can send copy of marriage or divorce decree, but nothing else

copy of front and back of GC, payment and I'm not sure if 2 passport photos are needed now

she should take copies of her taxes to the interview in case the officer asks for them

that's it

No need to send photos unless your friend is applying from outside the US.

I'm applying under the 5-year rule as well.

Get the tax transcripts from IRS for the last 5 years because sometimes the IO asks for them during the interview (you don't have to submit them with the application but you can if you want to)

Your friend has to document how many times and duration she has travelled outside the US for the past 5 years.  If she has no passport stamps she should retain proof of travel dates and bring those to the interview as well incase she's asked for them.

Since she's not filing based on marriage, she does not need to send a copy of her marriage or divorce decree, but she should bring them along to the interview incase asked about it.

Basically all she needs to send in with the application is a copy of her GC---front and back, and the fee.  Maybe a copy of her State ID if she wants, too (I did because the package seemed so "light")

If she has ANY criminal history in ANY country, she needs to send documentation regarding that as well.
