So I realized I don't think I can submit an SR for my i-485 because the processing time on the website says that as of Aug 31, the local office was processing apps from March. Don't we need to wait until the local office is processing i-485 cases submitted after ours?

BUT the crazy thing is, I know someone who went through the exact same process at my local office -- filed in May, green card by August! How is it so variable?

Not yet. Am guessing they will start issuing EADs from November 1st week. A few August fliers have status change to ready to schedule for interview but still i haven’t seen anyone posting about EAD status update yet.

We’re one of the ready to be scheduled for interview, do you think that our interview could still be waived? My husband came in on a K1.

There’s a 50-50 chance. I came on a K-1 visa as well. It would be great if the interview gets waived 😊

Every case is different. A few of our August filers status shows “ready to schedule for interview” and 2 or 3 have already got the interviews dates in November and few status still have “we received your finger print fees”. So it’s difficult to say.

Yes, but I figured those differences are because on VJ, we're all adjusting from different statuses, and have different local offices. But it's interesting that even someone adjusting from the same status as me, at the same local office, could have a different experience...

Yes, it can be RFIE or RFE that can delay the process and if the process is really fast then I guess it’s a young and a energetic officer dealing their case not a 60 year old who gets tired after just 2-3 hours in the office 😂

My understanding is that if you submit an SR for your i-485, USCIS will tell you that it's within normal processing times for your local office. I think you need to wait until the "processing cases as of date" (right now Dec 7) reaches your priority date (i.e. Aug 2017).

But none of this makes sense really, because my local office has already processed some cases filed in May, even though their website says they're currently processing cases from March.

PS - since it's been two months since Aug 31 (when the processing times were last updated), we can assume they've started processing more recently filed dates. In your case, maybe they're processing Feb 2017 cases by now -- but there's no way to tell.
