Yup, I sent it in with our package (I'm the foreigner).  That's the medical exam.  I know some people say you can just wait and bring the completed form/exam results to the interview, but I think that's only allowed if you are adjusting from K1 (I could be mistaken; someone correct me if I am).  Anyway, if you missed the info about the I-693, the basic steps are as follows:

It should be fine if you're adjusting from other visas as well =) I didn't send my medical exam with my packet because of the validation of the exam (only a year) and I got a letter saying I'd have to bring it with my interview. I had called USCIS beforehand as well and they told me it's fine to bring the exam results at the interview =)

June 27, 2020 - Sent packet via USPS

July 3, 2020 - Case Received (California Service Center)

July 6, 2021: Previous biometrics reused

October 12, 2021: Interview Scheduled for November 8, 2021

November 8, 2021: Permanent Green Card Approved!

Timeline (From J-1 visa to Adjustment of Status):

1. Go here to find a civil surgeon in your area.  It must be a USCIS approved civil surgeon administering the exam.  Prices will vary a little ($200-400; mine was $300ish) so ask a few if you can.

2. Bring your vaccination record, passport and print-out of I-693 to the doctor.  They will do a basic physical, give you a TB skin test, collect blood and urine samples and determine what vaccinations you need or don't need.

3. You need to go a follow-up appointment 2-3 days later so the doc can see the results of your TB skin test.  Then they'll tell you the results of your blood and urine analysis.  They'll give your documents back and they will have filled out the I-693, which they'll get you to sign in their presence.  Then they put the I-693 in a sealed envelope, which you are NOT allowed to open, and return your other documents to you.

That's that.  It's not too bad and my doctor was really nice (he's been a civil surgeon for 20 years).  Hope it goes well!

Thanks for your information. But the notice said I have to wait till I get the interview.

That is your medical form. I filed it with my AOS package. I have seen places where people did not submit it, but that is usually when their package would take longer than a year to get a decision.

Hope it's not true 😣

Has anybody's online status changed to "Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview" yet?  My biometrics were done two weeks ago and I was just curious how long it takes for the background check to be done.

It really depends. From what I have seen, the shortest timeline said 19 days after the biometrics. But a lot of people see it much much later than that.

I thought I read somewhere on this forum that sometimes it never changes from "fingerprint fee received", even after you've had your interview.

Hey guys! So I just called the USCIS office because in one NOA they wrote my adress wrong. I changed the adress online. I received a confirmation email which said if you don’t hear from us within 2 weeks give us a call. The lady on the phone was nice but she couldn’t help me. She said I have to wait 30 days before calling them. So I wait another 2 weeks.

Since I had her on the phone I asked when I can expect the advanced parole and EAD. She said they are currently working on priority date April 12th. That would mean 4 more month :-(

I really hope it doesn’t take that long.

Lets hope the best.

Mine changed 10 days after the biometrics (the I-485 one, I had to take two different biometrics) but after two minutes of complete joy and relief I read that this Status can remain like that for 2 to 6 months hahah but I have seen people getting their green card interview before getting the EAD so it's not impossible to get the interview soon.

PS: I'm a july filer but I like to read June and August filers posts as well so I could have an idea of timelines and how the process is going for that time period :)

Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you. Just start getting ready for your interview and dont rely too much on what people are saying about status being static for months. USCIS can schedule you any moment from now. Cases are different and you need to prepare well so that you can get your card same day. I wish you God's favor all the way. Congrats.

Do you know whether the message "you're ready to be scheduled for an interview" means you've bypassed the potential RFE stage? Or does that seem to come anywhere in the process?

We had this message for more than two months now. We have been approved for EAD and AP four days ago. I believe that this means they went through the AOS filing and deemed complete (no RFE) this is what I believe.

Yeah, I've been preparing :) it keeps me busy and it makes it seem like the process is going by fast but i know it might be like this for a few months though :(

Yeah I agree.  A couple of days before I got that message all I got was a letter from USCIS stating that I didn't send my medical form (which I decided to wait to do it) and that I should bring it to the interview. From what I read, it means no RFE for now but I could be asked for evidence after the interview if it's not approved on the same day.

Hi all, filed mid august, done biometrics on sept 15...  Advanced Parole status has changed to "document was sent" which is good I guess... Rest is still on fingerprint fee received / case received...

Does the status change if rfe is sent? What is the time period where rfes are sent?
