August 2017 AOS Filers

Hey folks, I am just here lurking mostly as I have only just filed my AOS (though I recognise a few of you from November 2016 K1 filers - Hello!)

 

I have already applied for my SSN.  When I went to the office, the administrator told me that the card woulld be with me in two weeks.

He also told me to make sure that I put my name on my mailbox!  I have heard from another friend here that their SSN was not delivered because the name was not registered with USPS at the address. USPS is apparently not supposed to deliver SSN cards to unidentified addresses (which is why the guy at the office told me to clearly mark the mailbox with the name of the residents).

 

I hope this is helpful to some of you with queries about this.

 

The other thing that confused me was that when the guy printed out my information - he had input 'legal alien allowed to work'.  I explained that I wasn't allowed to work and he replied that yes I was or he wouldn't be giving me a SSN.  Eventually after a bit of debating with him, he explained that it would not be valid without DHS authorisation (EAD) but that K1 visas are valid for work authorisation and that is why it had been input that way.  He was just a bit slow to mention that I would need to show my EAD as well.

I applied after I got here. Yes, you can also contact your congressman after you submit the expedite request and hope for the best.

Her secretary basically said he couldn't help me just with the debt but if I had a job offer then they would be able to help me expedite it then so looks like I'm gunna go job hunting! 

Yes, once you get a job offer you can use that to expedite your ead card - all the best with job hunting.

Hey guys, I did my biometric this morning.  The drive was 22 minutes away from home.  When I got to the Application Centre I was quiet surprised it was empty.  I got there 2 hours before my appointed time.  I was asked if I have an appointment, I said yes.  Agent asked me for my ID, I gave her along with the biometric letter.  She assigned a number and said I should wait until I get called.  She did not asked for Marriage Certificate.  I was called, picture was taken, 10 fingers were finger printed, and I gave my signature.  I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.  Whewwww!  Thank God that is over - now I can resume finding myself a job. Good luck guys.

I guys! SO i got a RFE letter :(.

 

My BIO appt is tom I'm exited RFE is only for my i485 form! 

It requests me to summit: I94 record which I have, the  sponsor form :/ i didnt send it i honeslty didnt know i should have send it since the begginig... can my husband be my sponsor me his tax paper work shows in come is about $19.000 is it good ? we are waiting on me to work :/ 

my birth certificate (again) but they want it translated to English my birth certificate is in Spanish :/ here is where my question comes do i have to send a original one again? anyone ever did this? I do have  a copy but the original i had already send it when i sent the package I can get another one but it will cost me more since they are mailing it from my county. How the translation has to be artificer by a lawyer? if anyone can help me I truly appreciate it and thanks in advance 

 

FOR EVERYONE Do not get frustrated it if ur case online does not change that is  actually good!! means NO RFE  Keep the wait!!!

USCIS currently requires minimum income of $20,300 for Affidavit of Support (for household size of 2). See https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p

It seems like you will need a joint sponsor. 

 

You should not send original documents to USCIS unless they asked you to (please note that you will need to bring it to the interview if your case requires one). 

I sent a copy of my birth certificate and had it translated and certified via online service https://www.rev.com 

 

Did you receive Request for Evidence RFE or Request for Initial Evidence RFIE?

What does your tracking say exactly?

Initial Evidence RFIE initial evidence. yeah it seems like I'll need a joint sponsor. Its said : On September 7, 2017, we mailed a request for initial evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status....

I actually have a copy of my birth certificate i can also get an original one any time just gotta tell them to ship it since i had already send a original one should i translate the copy and send it to them or should i tell my fam to send me once again an original

I'm sorry to hear that, I think with the initial evidence, your clock will reset to that day

Thank you so much, I was worried about it but i dont think so and i hope it does not Following what we read on the letter they send me, it shouldn't.  It says that they wont take further actions until I send the evidence they need but it says its only for  form I485 im not sure if my timing will change i have my BIO appt tom based on that im asumming it will just take some extra time but it wont get reset  and I also have a job offer letter so i hope it does not reset :/ wish me luck!

Do you reside in Texas?  And which ASC did you go to?
