Hello,

I am not a regular here, but I've been looking for answers and I appreciate everyone's effort to update all the August fillers.

I will share my story line  in case any of you have a similar issue.

*Applied for I-765 based on form I-485 - August 28th, 2017
*Biometrics App - September 23rd, 2017
*SR (Online) - November 27th (90 days mark) - no reply
*SR (Phone) - December 02 (95 days mark) - no reply
*Case opened under Congressman David Young - December 12th

*Infopass - December 12th (105 days) - Scheduled a face to face appointment at the Des Moines location. Representative informed that my case was being processed and it was all he could inform at that time.

* December 12th - uses informed delivered showed that carrier tried to deliver a package coming from USCIS LEES SUMMIT PROCESSING FACILITY, MO. PACKAGE UNDELIVERABLE AND SENT BACK TO USCIS. Case status was showing as "Case Receveid"

*SR (Phone) December 13th - Open a request to have it resent due to USCIS/USPS error. Mail always come through my address (Lockbox + name tag on it).

*December 14th - Contacted Obundsman + Congressman in my state. Congressman replied to me same day. Signed a waiver so he could represent me.

*December 28th - Congressman got back to me stating that they are reviewing the case and it will be resent. Allow  up to 30 days.

* January 10th - Case status changed to "Document mailed to you" - if not received by February 9th contact USCIS. STARTED MAIL HOLD - trying to avoid same problem.

* January 29th - Called Tier one and asked for a tracking number (it is always the easiest way to get connect with tier 2). They did not have one under their system, even though it was already "sent". Tier 2 informed that if there is no tracking number, it is probably not sent yet.

*January 29th - Contacted Congressman again. He emailed then and received a response on February 2nd stating that it was requested to be re-sent. Allow 45 days to receive it.

*February 2nd - Opened another case with Obundman.

* February 5th - Called and enquired about a tracking number. No tracking number available.

*February 8th - Informed Delivered (under USPS app) - informed that a Pre-shipment was requested.

*February 9th - EAD Combo delivered at USPS facility due to mail hold.

TOTAL: 165 days

Tips: Contact your congressman and open a request with obundsman. In addition, place your mail on hold as soon as it is sent.

If you guys need any assistance, please let me know.

Well I talked to a T2 officer today about my case (PD August 4, no EAD yet, I485 interview cancelled, their typo on I485 name).

He was very helpful and told me the reason my interview was cancelled is because it was an “overbooked appointment.” And to give it a couple of months until reschedule since there are many late interviews going on (massive backlog).

He told me my name is correct in their system and wasn’t sure why on the mail it still shows the typo. weird.

Regarding my I765 and 190-days pending EAD, he put out a “special service request” and told me I should expect to receive something in the mail within 15 business days and if not, call him back.

Hopefully the missing EADs/APs will arrive soon to us.

Have a great weekend everyone. 😊💖

Timeline (From B2 visa to AOS)

July 15, 2016 -> Got married

August 25, 2017 -> NOA for Biometrics Appt (I-485)
August 30, 2017 -> Sent email asking to look for I-765 (My I-765 was LOST)
September 8, 2017 -> Biometrics Appt for I-485
September 26, 2017 -> Received email from USCIS I-765 found and PD August 4
October, 2017 -> NOA for I-765 and Tier 2 officer cancelled 2nd biometrics

November 3, 2017 -> Raised SR online for I-765

I talked to a T2 officer on 02/01 and she told me the same thing about "special SR". I checked my case on USCIS website and "special SR" still was not assigned. It has looked like a normal request :(.

When I went to my USCIS local office on 02/01 (this is the second time), the lady said that my case is in a officer's hand. On 02/06, I went to my USCIS office again, and another lady said that my case just was in officer's hand 02/05. ==>  So, I dont think I will not put my hope in what they say anymore.

I dont want to say this and make you lose your hope. I just want to share my story so Dont lose hope.

When I contacted my local congress person, she asked me to send her my flight ticket. Today, she told me that my case was expedited and I should check over the weekend.

She also said that if she were me, she would just leave, and my family will send the combo card to me then I can come back to the US.

So should I leave before having my combo card? My flight is on next Tuesday morning.

I'm pretty sure leaving without your AP is bad. It's not just a matter of getting back in - once you exit the country, they can consider your app abandoned. I wouldn't risk it.

If I remember properly you don't need a new medical, it needs to be valid when you apply, but delays on their part doesn't mean more spending on your end. I would ask USCIS, now I am reading different answers: https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/does-a-medical-form-i-693-expire--does-an-applican-1787676.html...

I would do more google search and ask lawyers if I was you. One more link : https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume8-PartB-Chapter4.html

@Aviinashh or others who have gotten an RFIE - when the myUSCIS status changes to "We received your response to the RFIE", is this a big update (big blue letters, text/email notification), or one of those things you need to log in for (like the small notes like "your SR was assigned to an officer"?

Just want to know if I should expect a notification when they receive my response, or if I should keep logging in to check.

I hear you! It was already a lot of money in the first place. Your situation is getting me worried that mine is going to expire before I even get my interview as well. I have been "ready to be scheduled" since October and nothing -_-. You know it is a year right? The medical itself, may have an expiration date of 6months, but it is actually valid a year from the date you took it.
