::sigh:: still nothing from USCIS other than a generic message that a decision on the expedite will be made “shortly”....it’s already been about 3 weeks. But apparently they have 30 days to decide on expedite, even though they tell you they’ll take just 5 days. They gave the same response to the congressman too. So there’s really nothing we can do but wait. It’s so disheartenening.  No EAD, no interview, nothing. I wish we could understand what was going on. Just to know where it is in the process, are they doing extended background checks, is it waiting in a line to be looked at, what’s actually happening?

We we were hoping to get the EAD before we moved (still in same city) but hopefully we don’t have any delays in getting the mail to the new address.

BUT we are trying our hardest to stay positive. Excited about being able to enjoy the holidays in our new place. And looking forward to all of the good news that the New Year will bring!

In the same boat, Denglish!

I checked USPS informed delivery this morning and we have a package coming from USCIS-Corbin Production Facility.  I am pretty positive this is my husbands green card (which would be amazing as his approval was only one week ago) but does anyone know if this is for sure where the green card is mailed from?

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, how do I go about applying for my driver's license? Do I transferred over my valid unexpired drivers license , and just get a new Texas license or should I take the written  test and the road test? How do I go about it?  Should I apply for B or C drivers license?  Thanks guys.

My understanding is that each state has your own procedures on how to apply. I did applied in Wisconsin and took my SSN, Proof of residency, Marriage Certificate, Passport and they I was required to do a Written Test that is actually a Computer Based tests (multiple questions). Then after that (passing) you are allowed to apply for a road test which is basically driving through the city, where the instructor asks you to and pay attention to the signs, speed, rules etc.

For me that still dont have green card, they required all the documents above, so make sure you have it with you. It is pretty simple.

Thank you very much T_P:) I have been studying the Drivers Handbook - it's pretty much the same sets of documents I need to take with me - going there tomorrow morning to start the process - I hope that it goes well.

If you take the above documents and  I-797C(NOA1) of I-485 then once you finish the computer test and if you pass the driving test they will issue you a 1 year Driving License....and before that expires you will already have your green card with you and then you will get the usual 4 year card

Yes you still have to pay full price.

I dont think they will extend once you receive your GC. They will extend only when the DL is about to expire and you will have to pay fees again and extension fees is low than a new license. Please check with you state transport website :)
