Filed i765 August 7, raised 2 service requests until today I got a response saying that the case has been assigned to an officer, how long does it usually take before a decision has been made?

@Noreeh1, if the case has already been assigned, then you are looking at five business days. Expect something by the end of this week. If you do not see any update, call them to confirm. Remember to speak with a tier 2 officer. Congrats in advance!

My guess is that Hamilton already knows a visa is needed for that country and the problem is the uncertainty of how long will the passport be in the consulate's hands. Not sure. I would try calling the consulate and ask what you can do. Maybe they could accept a birth certificate or something else. Maybe they can take official in-person pictures of your passport. Not sure when you need to travel nor where to but hopefully calling them can help to clear things up. And yeah maybe they accept expedites by paying more $$ (unfortunately that's how things work).

all the best!

Thanks GoodVibes! Yes, I currently need a visa on my current visa, but I wouldn't need a visa if I got my GC. But since my case seems to be stuck and/or lost, I'm finding it hard to believe I'll get the GC in time to travel.

And nope, the country doesn't allow you to pay for expedited visas. I even looked up if I could drive to the nearest consulate (4/5 hours) and apply in person, but they don't let the public apply in person. Sigh. This process is so rough.

Did you get an email notification that the case has been assigned, or did you call to check? Almost the same PD but neither of my two service requests has been assigned yet.

You can check the status of your service request in "cases" tab when you click on the case number in uscis site when you log in the site

Ah ok. Yeah I'm checking that frantically but it's always "not yet assigned".

@Aviinashh any word as yet regarding your expedite request? I really don't understand these people at USCIS that are doing the approvals. If you don't hear anything before the day ends call them and also call back your Congressman's Office. Enough is enough  and the worst part is that there is nothing much that we can do from the outside looking in. We are at their mercy.

Hey...not at all...am sick of all this process....also i've fallen sick and couldnt come online since morning...been sleeping all day...going mad with all this :(

Honestly a lot of people who raised SR (thinking it will do any good) actually didn't do any good. I'd say speak to a Tier 2 officer or contact your local congressman. My receipt date is August 8th and currently am on 127th day and still nothing.

On December 12, 2017, your request to have your case expedited, referral number T1BXXXXXXXXXMSC, was assigned to an officer for response.

I did not call USCIS or even used my phone or laptop today as i was not feeling well and now while replying in the group i checked the status and it was in today's date !!!! I mean I already expedited my case in November and i already got an email from USCIS and i already faxed my offer letter now what the hell is this !!!
