When you receive your invitation for your interview it says bring your passport.

You need to decide what’s more important. Your Green Card or the other visa. 😬 sorry!

what visa do you need to apply for?

When is your interview?

I don't have an interview scheduled. I don't have an EAD/AP either. I'm just waiting in limbo, it's now like 125+ days since my PD.

I could apply for the visa now, and I could be done with the visa process before I even get the interview scheduled, at the rate things are going. The uncertainty is driving me crazy.

I have filed I-485, I-130, I-765 and I-131 on August 2017 and according on the website

USCIS has received it on 31st August 2017

The biometric was done on 4th October and until now checking my mail and case status everyday but the status didn’t change : case was received on 31st August 2017

Only the status for I-485 is: case is ready to be schedule for an interview.

Is this normal? Does anyone knows how longer do we have to wait?

Is there anything I could do?

Thank you very much

Yes it is normal...You can do a service request on the website, write to your congress person, call USCIS and ask to talk to a tier 2 officer. If you look back in the forum a little you will find how...And you will find a lot of person who are on the same boat as you are.

I don't know why they are taking so long with august I filed 8-2-17 they received August 9th biometrics done 9-7-17 and I still waiting with absolutely not online updates or letters I called USCIS spoke to an officer who was very nice she told me that there is apparently no reason why I didn't have my cards already, she dent  message to Immigration I should receive my cards 2 weeks or a letter. I also contacted my local congressman. I'm on day 128. I pray to God for all of August filers receive our cards or green cards pretty soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼.

I think we have at least one month of time after the "interview scheduled" notification is scheduled, right? Could it take less than a month (the visa application)??

also, is it there any chance to have 2 passports? I have 2 right now, one is my older and expired one but it's the one I came here with and it has all my entry stamps from every trip. The second one is an updated version of it and not expired. So I can use both depending on the situation. Maybe try contacting to see if you can have another second current and unexpired copy?

Mmm I'll try to think of another possible options. Although if you're completely sure you can get the visa thing done in less than a week, like, from now on, you'd be okay and I'd apply immediately then. Even if you get an interview date, I think you'd have the chance to move it (not sure) but I don't know how bad that can be for the greencard process. I don't think many people move their dates after receiving an interview date.

Keep us updated!

Thank you so much for the information. I am a bit reassuring now that I am not the only one. Honestly it is really long waiting, and i thought there was something wrong with my application. However, I hope all of August filers will receive the cards soon.

Hey guys, does anyone know how the recent news on the government possibly shutting down on the 22nd of this month could affect our immigration process?? Like, would our cases be delayed or cancelled? I didn't even know this could be possible... it is crazy.

This is starting to really worry me now. :/

Hoping nothing bad happens.

We had a conversation about it in August...They would only keep the essential services, so it would most likely affect us...No sure answer though.

My husband though said that it rarely happens and when it does it's like one day...so then it wouldn't really make a huge difference...There were talks it would happen last Friday...so looks like they pushed it further.

Interesting news for me today:

The caseworker at my congresspersons office was out today so I decided to call USCIS direct. I was ready to ask for T2 T2!!! but the guy I spoke with was really great. He told me that there was already a letter that had been generated in regards to my husbands EAD but that it hadn’t been sent yet. He said a lot of times the letters are generated and then they sit waiting to be sent out because there’s a bunch of back log. He said they’ve had 2-3x the normal work.

He he said he would send a reminder to the USCIS caseworker to send out the letter. Then as he was doing something he said “oh, actually it looks like your case is almost done - you might even get the card and letter together.” He said I could also call between 8-2pm to speak directly with the caseworker. But that we would get something very soon.

Now I’m not holding my breath or anything, but at least that was the little bit of hope we needed. Plus the congressperson caseworker should be following up tomorrow so I’m hopeful we’ll get something soon.

I have to say that working with the congressmans office and also with the people on the phone at USCIS have actually been pretty pleasant. Everyone has been genuinely helpful, even if the process is still slow....

thats all. So maybe for those of us that are waiting, the letter is just waiting to be sent out. Also, ours is at National Benefits Center. Not sure if that’s where everyone else’s are.

15/08/2017 AOS/EAD sent

Yeah I think so. It is rare and it mostly doesn't affect the USCIS services at all, so no delays or anything, not even the DHS is very affected. I read the only immigration-related thing that could be affected is the e-verify system but it's not that big of a deal anyways.
