Well with USCIS I think its about giving the right amount of pressure too. Have you done SRs ? How many and what happened ? Have you contacted the Congressman/women, senators office ? Like Texasfiller said they have to pull your file and give updates on it and usually will approve very soon after ? Tell us what you have done so far ? I just received my ssn card and I know the feeling without it. It sucks so much you are like here but cant participate in anything ... But never forget the end goal its the green card not EAD :)

Hi there :). Well, my case is kind of a long story (and sorry for this) since they lost my I-765 initially and misspelled my first name, you can see most of my timeline on my signature, not from phone I think. In case you don't, here it is:

August 3, 2017 -> Mailed AOS packet (I-130, I-485, I-765)
August 4, 2017 -> Package received
August 14, 2017 -> NOA for I-130 and I-485 (not I-765... called multiple times to ask about this but was told to wait)
August 25, 2017 -> NOA for Biometrics Appt (I-485)

August 29, 2017 -> Continued calling until they gave me an email address
August 30, 2017 -> Sent email asking to look for I-765 (My I-765 was LOST)
September 8, 2017 -> Biometrics Appt for I-485 (which will be later cancelled by Tier 2 officer)
September 26, 2017 -> Received email from USCIS I-765 found and PD August 4
October, 2017 -> NOA for I-765 and Tier 2 officer cancelled 2nd biometrics

November 2, 2017 -> Raised 1st SR via phone (apparently non existent since LATER they said there is no SR)

November 3, 2017 -> Raised 2nd SR online for I-765 since I already had my suspicions customer service didn't do a good job

November 30, 2017 -> Called and was told to call back when SR is at least 30 days old

December 5, 2017 -> Tier 2 officer said to wait 2 more weeks for SR to be assigned to someone... not very helpful lol

I haven't included the multiple times I called to fix my first name. They also took 2 months to fix this.

My luck changes the time they lost and didn't include my I-765 originally, and despite of having talked to Tier 2 officers multiple times (and 1 actual IO in person) they say it is okay but that that situation (I-765 lost) is extremely rare.

Have no idea about the congressman in terms of "how do I show severe financial loss/hardship?" since my husband doesn't work for a Company either. And I do business consulting, dev / Internet stuff (well, not for a long time because we marriage-based AOS filers can't work) so can't get an "employment letter" from a company. I wouldn't like to get a job offer for this purpose only and then quit to continue doing my own stuff. I think those are the only 2 ways of getting an expedite? Now someone needs to tell me if I am able to contact the congressman/senate to just accelerate my case with no offer letter or "extreme financial hardship" proof? I would like to know if this is still possible. Is it enough to just send them a Credit or Debit Card statement with ZERO concurring income for the last months? Those words "extreme" and "severe" financial loss is what keeps me from contacting the congressman or senators. Maybe there are people who need it way more than me.

I believe there's a lot to be done in terms of online work in the system. Maybe some people do online work anyways without never saying anything? I am really not doing anything since I am sure they can find out (maybe not now or in the next 20 years) everything in their systems (Black mirror/stranger things 2 stuff HAH) and I just want to stay in the "clean" side.

Husband and parents in law say not to think of this anymore and that the time will come. *sigh* At least there is a lot to learn on the Internet, dogs to pet, great food to cook, dishes to clean and books to read while we wait. And of course the best company.

The final goal is the GC yes but have no problem waiting for it. I just want the EAD to put my websites back on so that I can legally start earning an income here without feeling strange about it and also with the EAD I can get all the other documents (SSN, driver's license).

I am more upset about the "unfairness" of it all, not really being a first come, first serve: some others are even unluckier than us waiting for more than 200 days (June/July filers). I saw a case where one person has been waiting 7 months already just for EAD. Nuts.

My birthday is in January so I just hope to receive any news by then. (Yeah, like they would care lol) just talking to myself, sorry. This whole thing is making me hyper right now, maybe it is the caffeinated tea.

Sorry that you had to go through sooooo much trouble. I'd say contact your local congressman/woman and explain them all the above and you said you can provide bank statement to show that no income is deposited in the past 2 months. You can tell them that you've already raised 2 SRs and its been more than 120 days(which is wayyyy beyond processing times) and tell them it's their mistake that they lost the I-765 and later said they found it and you've the count of days between LOST and FOUND I-765 application. See what they have to say.

So sorry that was a lot of bad luck , really !

But YES absolutely its called congressional enquiry . What you talked about is to expedite , where you can say I am suffering extreme hardship I have a job offer or I am literally at 0 dollar . But this I dont think someone should pursue since technically you are being spnsored and you had to proof your spouse can support you so I wouldnt send in a bank account of zero balance .

What is in my opinion just as succesfull is the conggressional inquiry where you ask them to inquire about your case . Usually that will result in a pull of your file and in a lot of cases approval follows promptly . Its free and definetly try it out .Good luck

Yes, we must not believe everything that they say to us online or over the phone - what we must believe is what is in the letter that they sent to our mail box - this is sad but it's the reality.

I called uscis yesterday and my heart sank even further and I'm just not feeling very optimistic. I spoke to a tier 2 officer who said my case has been with the fbi since Sept 29 undergoing background checks and as of late they are following new procedures which requires more detailed checks pushing Ead wait to up to 6 months which I still think is crazy considering ppl who filed in October are getting EADs so what's so different about them and us *sigh* I sometimes wish I had done a spousal visa instead I gave up having my family at my wedding just cuz I thought this was a better process I'm starting to accept what is though and praying the Lord will have mercy on us all

It looks like your background check is completed - I saw where you are now ready to be scheduled for an interview. I wonder if officers are mixing up cases, hence the reason why September and October folks are getting Approval Notice/EAD Cards before some of us.  This just don't make no sense at all.

I love this! When I feel really angry and upset about the system, I try to take a moment to feel glad that I found someone I love who makes all this paperwork worth it.

Since I'm stuck here and can't travel, it means my wife is essentially stuck too because she doesn't want to travel without me. It's an unfortunate situation but we're in it together -- all this wretched paperwork shows all the love and support my partner has for me.

Yes, that is the best part :)

I can't find words to express how much happiness I feel with my partner as well in the midst of this process.

This entire thing... being together a whole lot more than what is normal, has deeply strengthen our relationship. It makes me wish of a better world where it is an universal right (voluntarily of course) to spend this much time with someone (communication is always key) and get to know each other in another level while you also get the time to discover yourself even more. Reality is different for the vast majority.

And as a positive note, like my mother in law said to me the other day when we were talking about this:

You know, when you get old, you don't really look back at your life and say "oh I wish I had worked more" or "I wish I had spent less time with my kids / partner / family." No matter how your life is or will be, most people go to their graves regretting that they didn't get to spend much time with their loved ones. Not many people get this in their lives, even when they work so hard for it.

While stressing at times, we got this now, it is like a little nice (okay, the waiting makes it not 100% nice) pause in our lives, and while it will change after all of us start working and do our own lives etc., we will be able to appreciate the good times with them.

*cheers with wine* To being (temporarily) stuck together with our partners in this. 🍷

HELL YEAH WE HAVE FOUND LOVE. :D that has to be something humanly awesome right??

Like that Rihanna song (lol) says: We found love in a hopeless place ♩ (excluding the addiction part, I just see these 7 words of the song to be very powerful and meaningful given the current times, in some way, it never fails to lift me up every time that I get upset about the system and makes me feel incredibly lucky to have found love in a planet like this one).

Not so hopeless after our paperwork gets done for sure :).

Thanks for the positivism!
