Sorry to the people who are still waiting, its tough !

I am new here this is my timeline:

Updated timeline.
09/01/2017 - submitted application package
09/05/2017 - package received (PD)
09/11/2017 - case accepted ,received 4 text messages and 4 emails
09/15/2017 - received hard copy NOA's
09/22/2017 - received biometrics appointment letter
09/25/2017 - biometrics completed
11/21/2017 - EAD/AP approval date - case status for both still at "case received"
11/27/2017 - received approval letters for both (took a week probably because of thanksgiving )

It was around 75 days to get approved.

I did a lot of talking to level two officers and I can tell you all the people here still waiting are because your background check has not come back.

Before they will even just look at your file the background check has to be in there which is done by a support officer (who works for the main adjudicator) and they will flag that case for in line to be reviewed. There is no other reason for delays because there is literally no backlog anymore. They take now 75-90 days. A level two officer told me the background checks now undergo extreme vetting and they have a huge backlog for those. It doesn't mean you have done something but it just takes so long for your file to be reviewed by someone at the FBI before its given the all clear.

You can not expedite those background check with congressman or job offer they take as long as they take.

Of course one other reason can be because your case is assigned to a specific officer and if that person is super slow (its still government agency) or they could be taking vacation or got sick.

good luck

Thank you so much, we are many from August still waiting May God Help us 🙏🏼. Praying for all .

We are still in the waiting game with you all for the EAD/AP.  We did receive my husbands green card interview appointment set for December 14 in which we are very grateful for but we realized how important the EAD/AP is this week as his grandmother passed away and he is stuck here with no way to travel home for the funeral. :(  We have looked into ways to expedite the AP but the soonest infopass appointment we can get is December 12 which is pointless considering his interview is the 14th.  Really wishing that we would have received the AP by now but unfortunately the wait continues.  It's hard when you have to wait on someone else to approve your "freedom".

Congrats to those who have received their approval and good luck to those still waiting.  Fingers crossed that everyone hears something soon!

Good morning Ashley, i know exactly how you both are feeling.

My grandmother passed away on october 17th and I wasn’t able to attend her funeral service too.

Two weeks ago my other grandfather passed away and still no EAD/AP.

My PD is August 10th. Expedited my EAD on October 10th because I have a job offer. Faxed evidence on October 17th, received a letter on October 26th saying I should receive a decision or notice of other action shortly. That was now 32 days ago. I’ve already called 3 or 4 times and made an Infopass appointment at my field office. Nothing helped.

The only good thing is that I also got my interview scheduled on December 19th.

I called again yesterday and raised another SR. the officer was very understanding and trying to help. She also said it could be possible that because my interview is so close they won’t work on my EAD/AP so they maybe just wait till my interview is completed and I’m approved them I would get my GC instead.

so let’s all cross fingers for our interview in a few weeks.

my condolences to your husband for his loss.

May 20th: we got married

August 7: I130, I131, I485, I765 via USPS to Chicago lockbox

August 10: package arrived

August 10: priority date

August 16: checks cashed

August 17: received notification via text and email

August 22: received NOA’S

August 25: received biometrics appointment

Sept 5: Biometrics done

Oct 10: submitted expedite

Oct 17: faxed job offer

Nov 14: interview scheduled

Dec 19: interview

Dec 19: Interview done

Dec 19: Approved and temporary stamp in passport

Jan 1: Green Card received in mailbox

My status changed to “new card is being produced” on Nov. 17, and it did not update since then. But I received NOA for combo card approval last Wed Nov 22, and got the card in the mail today.  My PD is Aug 27. I hope you’ll hear some good news soon.

Congratulations

Our condolences to you as well.  So sorry to hear that.  My heart breaks for him and you.  You don't think about how hard it will be if a situation like this arises until its too late.  It is so frustrating how complicated it is to try and get a response on any inquiries on your case.  I am assuming that we will not hear anything on the EAD/AP due to the interview being so close but we are still holding out hope that it may miraculously arrive in the mail today or tomorrow so that he can make it back for the funeral.  Although we know that is most likely not going to be the case.

Good luck with your interview!  I hope it goes smoothly and you get a quick approval!

I feel exactly the same way! It's so unfair that people who filed after us are racing through the system -- it should be first come, first serve. How can background checks take months and months for some of us and be super fast for others? This is such a broken system.

I did notice in the recent venting, that it seems like some of us who are stuck waiting on EAD/APs have PDs of Aug 07 thru 10. Maybe it means something, but most likely, it's just me trying to find SOME kind of logic in a system that has absolutely none.

I agree with you,  and background name status check (FBI name check)  does not take 3 months unless there is severe backlog.  It should only take between 2 - 6 weeks to complete.

I understand what you are saying - but I have read of persons who went to their interview and had to wait a little longer for approval because their background check was not yet completed - so I would say yes they still look at your file.

You are confusing a couple of things all together and mixing them.

So no they WILL NOT look at anything before they haven't received the FBI Name Check and Fingerprint Check which is required for all benefits that are a year or longer and all EAD and Green Card applications.

There will never be an approval without those, multiple level two and info pass told me this .

Also I dont know where you got those two to six weeks from. According to USCIS and FBI for 60 percent is done in 72 hours. 30 percent is completed in 30-60 days .When I went to my Infopass because I wanted to travel soon the officer told me that after 60 days my check is not cleared.

I am from non risk country and never been in touch with the law. The officer told me its because they have hundred of thousands of citizenship applications pending in background check from last year that makes the backlog.

I also said its not the only reason for the delay another one could be lazy IO who only does the minimum amount of work required. They do not get paid by case but by the hour.

Now to the background check you are referring to at the interview. This is initiated by the IO at the field office when you appear for the interview. Its a name check before the green card is granted. It can come back immediately or take a few minutes, hours or days. Its another check which has nothing to do with the one that was initiated after the application has been received .

Hope this clarifies things
