Welcome! I'm in the exact same position, same PDs, no response to SRs. No idea why our background checks are stuck while almost everybody else's here was complete back in Sept/Oct. Let us know when you hear something!

Wow we have basically the same timeline!  I was wondering if maybe the incomplete background check affects our EAD/AP processing time?  Anyway I'll post updates as they happen.  It's kinda nice to be able to talk to other people going through the same situation.  Good luck and hope you hear good news soon!

Yes, it's definitely reassuring to be able to people who are going through the same thing. I didn't think the EAD/AP was entirely reliant on the 485, but maybe. The EAD/AP seems to be taking up to 120 days, so we may still hear by Dec 06.

Hi everyone

I trust you guys have some certain experience about biometrics appointment letter, hence I would like to ask for advices here even though I filed my applications in Oct 2017.

I did receive bio letter last week. It however shows that bio is applied for I765 (Employment Authorization), not mention whether it will be applied for I485 or not. Is it a matter I need to worry about? Coz everyone in Oct who received bio appoiment told me that their letter mention both I765 and I485.

Like @T_P said, nothing to worry about =) I had to do that as well and the only difference is that the I-765 appointment is slightly faster. I know it's a pain to have to do that twice but it's nothing wrong with your application :)

I believe you can tell them during your first biometrics appointment that you've gotten two letters/appts, and they can do both at the same time.

I was in a similar position (already done i485 fingerprints though before receiving the other second one), two separate apps with the difference that I needed to drive like 2.3 hours from home each time, and I knew I could merge the fingerprints since other forums mentioned this as well.

For this you need to talk to a Tier 2 officer though, he is the only one who can do this, he will tell you that you don't need a second biometrics because your fingerprints are unique and he will use your i485 fingerprints for your i765. The process is immediate. My officer even got a little upset that they still sent me a second bio appt and asked (to himself) why do they keep doing that.

Hope all goes well !

Same boat here. :(  No response to SRs or anything. Pd for i485 is the same (8.8) and Pd for the other forms is 8.4.

it's like they have forgotten us, hah. If this was the titanic we would definitely be still swimming in the cold ocean. Hopefully an officer will come back for us. Just hang in there. Not sure why background checks are longer for some people though, I'm pretty positive I'm the only person in the world with my first and last name combined since they are very unique. Not sure if that even matters or if they check the entire internet :/ or if they even interact with our own government etc that's taking so long. I'm also pretty sure I'm clean in every country I've been to. Maybe it's because we are adjusting from a B2 visa, who knows. Hopefully we will hear news soon. Although thanksgiving is coming, this would be a great time for news to come and be grateful about them too haha.

I do think adjusting from a B2 has something to do with it.  Plus I found another thread on another forum of someone complaining about EAD processing times. An immigration lawyer simply commented, "Extreme vetting". So I think USCIS is trying to do more thorough background checks while they are backlogged.

For perspective, I received an EAD back in 2015 for F1/OPT. It took only three months for me to get that card.

Nope, I'm not adjusting from B2 and mine's still lost in the ocean as well...

Hello guys  I need your help. Can i go apply  for social security number documents  myself  or do I need  my husband  to take  me?

if you can drive then you can go to the social security office by yourself or your hubby needs to drive you there :P

just kidding.....you can do it by yourself...by the way if you have your marriage certificate with you then you may apply for a SS card with your married surname (thats only if you want to)
