Hi Gaz,

Congrulations, and wish you the best in the USA. I've previously moved from the UK to Hong Kong and had various things to close down/inform.
Below is that list, (Some you've mentioned)

Most Important ones:
- HMRC Tax
- Any Pending Student Loans / Student Loan Company
- National Insurance
- Banks
- Dentist/Doctors/Private Medical Plans

Maybe to Consider
-DVLA if you're no longer at that address

Hope this helps :)

Fill out the P85 and send it to the tax man, that will update your address to the US and you never know you might get a rebate too :)

Cancel mobile phone

Cancel car/home insurance etc

Credit card/store card companies - allow a full month to cancel, they are notorious for adding interest after you pay off the balance and sending the statement to your UK address so it arrives after you move...

Sky/cable tv

Home phone

Vets (if you have pets obviously)

Store loyalty cards - they will send stuff forever!

Thats all I can think of for now :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

My experience with DVLA is that they don't allow you to change your address to an overseas address. They cancel the license as the license is for U.K. residents only (not British citizens wherever they happen to be in the world). If you go back to visit, your U.K. license won't be valid. My husband flipped when he saw I was still carrying my pink U.K. license in my wallet next to my Washington license. He said if I got pulled over I could be arrested for having two licenses which, in this state at least, is apparently illegal. DVLA will want you to return your license. I have decided to keep mine as a souvenir and not return it. They can come and get it if they want it.

You should also update your voter registration as an overseas voter. You can continue to vote in general elections for 13 (I think?) years after you leave, either by proxy or by post.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!
