about affidavit of support

hello everyone. 

 i am a permanent resident and i am sponsoring my husband from nepal. i work part time and i wanted to know about affidavit of support form, like how to fill it, which form to fill if i have a joint sponsor and what is the minimum income required etc etc, if anyone could help me it would be a great support and i would really appreciate it . thank you

The joint sponsor would fill out the same form (I-864) and need to meet 125% of the federal poverty level for his/her household side (as stated on the I-864P).

 

The joint sponsor's household size is:

[the joint sponsor's household members...i.e. spouse, dependent kids] + [your husband] + [any derivatives getting a visa based on the I-130 petition for your husband].

In the simplest case - an unmarried joint sponsor with no kids and your husband not bringing any kids to the US - the joint sponsor's household size would just be 2 (the joint sponsor + your husband). Note that the petitioner and their kids are not included in the household size for a joint sponsor.

 

Income cannot be combined across sponsors - i.e. if you make $15,000 and your joint sponsor makes $15,000, then that doesn't count as $30,000. However, if your joint sponsor is including income from a family member in the same household (i.e.their spouse), the other person would fill out an I-864A and the income can be combined with the joint sponsor.
