Well, Marlon I am sure has not requested his police record from the time that he lived in England. I keep mentioning it to him. So what I would like to know is how he would go about doing this? Is there a website?

Thanks!

Trying to reply one more time! Go here http://www.met.police.uk/dataprotection/faq.htm#time

This is directly from the US embassy:

HOW TO OBTAIN A POLICE CERT FROM THE UK:

"you are required to obtain a statement from the National Identification Service, Subject Access Office, Room 331, New Scotland Yard, Broadway, London, SW1 0BG. In order to obtain the required statement, you should apply to your local police station, where you will be given the application forms. When completing the application form, the applicable category is "prosecution/conviction history". There is a 10 pound fee. The local police will submit your application to the National ID service and the response to the application will be sent directly to you. The national ID service does not accept application from individual applicants; the request must be made through your local police. Under the legislation, if will take at least 40 days to receive this document."

I'm not sure how you could get one if you aren't in the UK but I'm sure there is information about this online. Maybe even the New Scotland Yard office website would have information on this.

Our police cert took 22 days from application to receive, just for reference. If you can't find any information online then just Scotland Yard and they can tell you how to do it, I'm sure.

Good Luck

I'm pretty sure he would need to apply to the constabulary where he resided rather than the Metropolitan Police. Best thing to do is ask him where he lived (which county) and look up that Police force's website. Then seach for Subject Access forms on that website.

It should pull up what you need.

All police checks go THROUGH the Met but are forwarded there by the Police Constabulary where you lived at the time.

Thanks so much to everyone for answering my question! I hope Marlon gets on this because I would hate to have a delay due to this! I know the last place he lived in was Birmingham, I have no idea what county that is but I will be sure to let him know.

Thanks again!

Nope. He didn't live in London. You have to apply through the Police Force where you last resided. See my earlier posts! :)

Yes, but you still have to get tough with him.

I used to tell Jomo...if I was working this hard on my end, he had to pull his weight on his. He never disappointed.

My SO signed a power of attorney form and sent me a copy of his ID and I included a copy of his passport, I also included a copy of my ID and had a friend purchase a money order in London for 10 pounds. I sent all the forms and the payment to the Metro Police in the area he last resided inm and I am awaiting the report.

We know the mail in Nigeria is much slower than US, and we felt more comfortable with the Police Certificate coming to me
