Hi All,

I am helping my cousin to fill the DS-260 form and I would like to be sure if they need to enter 0 on the children section as she has 2 "kids" one 26 years old daughter and one 22 years old son and of course they will not be included in the immigration process.

Thanks for your help

What do the instructions say? Do they say to only enter children under 21, or all children? The help function online with the form is usually quite detailed.

Actually I've asked here because I could not find specifically the information. I received the reply on a different forum.

I have the concern because my cousin has a daughter who is applying for asylum in USA, if she lists her daughter on the DS-260 a states her address (in the USA) is there any chance that the visa issuance for her will be affected because of "out of status" of her dauhgter?

Thanks

She has fill in truthfully the information. It does not matter where the children live or if they plan to apply for the visa/green card (whatever this is).

If it says to list all her children, regardless of age, then she needs to list all of them.

I don't know. They might think she will go to the US to apply for asylum too. But what visa is this? If this is visitor visa, she could be denied. If this is a spousal visa or something else, it probably won't matter. Either you didn't say what she is applying for or I missed it.

Did you hover over the options to get the fuller info on how to answer? I'm surprised it's not there.

I wouldn't think an adult child's status would affect a DV application but that question is out of my area of expertise, maybe others can provide a more definite answer.

Clue: this is the diversity visa forum.

Incidentally this DS260 exemplar clearly says to list all children - it does not give any age cut-off for doing so. There's a sidebar about the fact that not all might be eligible to immigrate.
