Medical required for interview?

Hi all!

we are currently in an adjustment of status. My wife entered the US with a K1 visa in November, got married and processed the adjustment. We have an interview appointment this week and just notices that one of the requirements is a completed examination form I-693 in a sealed envelop (unless already submitted).

she had her examination done on 9/8/2016 before her visa interview.

when I submitted the adjustment of status I did not submitted any examination as it was done months before on her K1 visa process.

Does that examination still active? I was under the assumption that is good for one year.

thanks

Bring the DS-3025 she got from her doctor at the time of the medical at least. You should include it in the initial package but you can bring it now if you didn't.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

Here we go;

For K-1

In her original sealed envelope she handed in upon entry there was copy of the I-693. So yes it was already submitted.

Some times this form gets lost, leading to RFE's down the line for the sealed I-693. What you can do is include a copy of the DS3025 that she should have received abroad. But before doing that check the bottom and look for a check mark in the "vaccines completed requesting a blanket waiver" if the check mark is not there, don't send it in.

Now you get to the part of "what do we want" some people do not want an RFE and hate the fact they might get one and still want to submit something. Than you can try to find a doctor that is willing to transcribe your vaccine records on to the I-693 and seal it in an envelope, you can submit that envelope.

Than we get to the next part. The medical is valid for one year. The way I read the rules, this one year has to do with submitting, but there are numerous people that had to wait for an interview for over a year and still had to submit a complete new medical.

In the end it is up to you. I felt it was worth the change of a 4 week delay in a 6month wait (my projected wait time for AOS) and it was not worth spending the extra money up front. Others do not agree and decide to get either the vaccines transcribed or a complete new medical.
