Hello! I applied for naturalization online, 2 weeks ago. Got biometrics scheduled. Process is going as it should. I have been a permanent resident for 7 years. But during the last 5 years, I had 2 trips for 181 days and 274 days (broken continuous residence of 6 months). Main purpose was education, family resided resided in the US on the same address as I, have ID and driver's license issued on that period, paid all taxes, was working when stayed in the US, had auto policy on my name, have lots of US Bank transactions and maintained a money on account during absence. In the last 3 years I am 95% of the time residing in the USA. I collected all the proofs and submitted them with the application.

Question:   Anyone had an interview or a case with similar situation of proving the continuous residence?  What questions or situations can be at the interview?

Hello guys, I have a question for the ones who are done with the interview. How long after the interview, you got the date for the oath ceremony? Just wanna mention that I live in Chicago- not suburbs, cause as I noticed, that matters too..

Do people who live in the city get it faster?

As I read some of the people's experiences, I think so. But, I would like to hear more...

Moving from the Loop to Lincoln Park, hope that doesn't affect me lol. I know people in the state wait a lot longer for the oath VS Chicago. Didn't know it was the suburbs too

My interview is on 04/04 and I just moved from Lincoln Park to Uptown, I also hope that doesn't affect my case...I will post here once I get my oath notice (well, if I pass the interview lol)

Hi everyone! I haven't been on in a while, but it looks like Chicago is now processing combo interviews for I-175/N-400? I applied for N-400 back in September 2017 while my I-175 was pending, and at my N-400 interview in December 2017, they told me that they don't do combo interviews so I would have to wait until ROC was complete. Finally got my 10 year GC in August 2018, but no news since then... I've submitted a case inquiry today, so fingers crossed.

Frustrated that they didn't do combo interviews initially because other offices definitely were, but I'm happy for others! All in this together, so good to see other people completing the process :)

~Adjusting from F-1 Post-OPT in Chicago, IL~

3/25/14 - Day 00 - I-130, I-485, I-765, & I-131 sent via FedEx

4/22/14 - Day 28 - Biometrics completed @ 10am (Chicago - Broadway location)

6/09/14 - Day 76 - Received EAD/AP combo card in mail.

11/4/14 - Day 224 - Interview in downtown Chicago location

11/5/14 - Day 225 - Notification of GC approval!

Hi! Yes, we were in that same boat for my wife (they refused to do her N-400 interview in Chicago in Nov 2017 because ROC wasn't done); I've also read that in the intervening time, they've started doing combo interviews.

Hopefully your case inquiry will help!!!

(We moved to another jurisdiction last summer, so things finally moved along for her N-400 later on in the fall, and she took the oath a month ago.)

Hello,

To those who already had their citizenship interview: did you take copies of ALL bank statements since you got married? That's a lot of paper 😞 when I submitted online I sent it as "sample of bank statements" and included a few from each year...

Also did you take copies or your pay stubs? What about copies of documents related to the trips you took (eg boarding passes, hotel reservations, etc)?

Thank you!!!!

I took none of those things.  The only things required were drivers license, letter of N400 appt and tax returns (which I didn’t have as it was not back from my accountant).   So if you have those things and will feel happier taking them go ahead, but they are not necessary.

Good luck!

Thank you @kdg It actually makes me feel sad to waste so much paper lol

I got the tax returns already (well not the one for tax year 2018, as haven't filed that yet, maybe I should consider doing so before the interview...)

I really appreciate your feedback! I'm getting anxious and nervous as my interview date approaches, my biggest fear is that my mind will go blank and I'll forget the answers to the civics questions 😞

Holy cow yes it is nerve wracking! And my mind did go blank... but it’s ok if you know your stuff it all comes back to you and you know you can get 4 wrong and still be ok!  I have no idea what I was asked even when I came out. I envy those people who can write on here the questions they got!! Haha.

Deep breaths and you’ll be fine 😊
