Do they offer passport application service on oath day in chicago? Do you guys apply for passport on oath day? Is there a pros and/or cons applying for passport on that day?  Thanks!

I believe you have to have proof of interntaitional travel within 14 days to get passport at the chicago office unless that’s just the expedited service? I know you need a photocopy of both your naturalization certificate and drivers license, maybe you can drop it all off there and have it sent to you? I had to make an appointment to get mine done there with proof that I am traveling 2 days after my ceremony as I need a same day passport so this could be different.

I would definitely believe what the officer said :) I know it's very stressful i would be too but I'm sure it will update by monday. in my case it took 48 hours to get scheduled for oath from my interview but it depends on where you live.

I called today and the officer said again its approved and you are in the queue to be scheduled for the ceremony. So how long that could take?

no idea, for me it took 48 hours but I've seen people say on here that it took them weeks/months I guess it all depends on the volume of oaths during that time and (maybe) where you live.

Hi I'm a new member on this forum.

My wife filed in Chicago for the N400 back in MAY 2018 and USCIS received the application on 5-9. Not long after, they scheduled the Biometrics 5-11 for the future date of 5-29. Which I'm hoping signals to a faster filing?? Who knows... Anyhow, are there any May 2018 filers in Chicago that have filed for US citizenship on this forum???? If so, what's your progress??

Thanks ,

Hi! Time lines do change a lot but as an expample I filed in Chicago last November, had my biometrics less than 2 weeks later (11/28) but didn’t get an interview until June 19th. My oath ceremony is next week. So there is quite a gap between biometrics and interview - or was then!

Hope things are moving a bit faster - try the forum for May 2018 N400 filers also

good luck!

Thank you for the response! I will be sure to check that forum. I've been doing google searches on timelines and found this forum. I'll definitely be checking out the May 2018 forum and hopefully have an idea what's happening.

Thank you and Congrats on your oath ceremony coming up!! 😁

Yes, I have almost the same date for my application and close date for Biometrics. If you check N400 timelines here http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?op6=All&op7=Chicago+IL&op1=6&op2=&op4=1&op5=5%2C10%2C11&cfl= , you will see that there is some tendency there. Like December 2017- January 2018 got scheduled for August 2018, January 2018 - February 2018 are receiving scheduled interview for September 2018, And February 2018 is also receiving scheduled interview for October 2018. This refers to Online filers mostly. I don't want to make any conclusions and I know that things change, but if you are online filer, and if the pace is the same, I think approximately in November they would schedule interview for May filers, and most likely (following the pattern ),  it will be in January.

Thanks for the input! That does help. My wife actually filed her application in person at Chinese American Service League in Chicago where a lot of Chinese people usually go to get help for filing. Was tempted to file online but rather not take the chance and screw up since they've been helping people for years on that. I helped her gather all the info she would need so they actually only needed to retype most of the info and add a few things here and there but we mostly had all her stuff prepared ahead of time. I should start requesting my 2015,2016,2017 income tax transcripts in case they want those rather than my 1040's. Along with Birth certificate and marriage certificate plus any other relevant proof she will need at the interview. The wait is suspenseful :/

For Paper Filers the Timeframes might be different, I think they take more time

@Jane D While your estimates apply to the most , there have been a few outliers. It seems to me that having a pending I-751 slows down your N-400 interview schedule date, I did notice a few people who after applying for there N-400 got scheduled for an interview 3-4 months later, not sure if this is blind luck or if there is more to the actual process.

True, I'm sure everyone's situation may differ which causes a lag or slowdown but for the most part, the N400 apps are slower than before in Chicago at least and I'm sure in a lot of other cities :/
