Here’s an interview experience where the person was asked to go home and bring old passport. So, you will need to go with old & new passport!

I am the April interviewee @kdg referred to. Hello 😀 Urbana resident and tomorrow it will be 120 days since I had my interview.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Peoria ceremony on 9/25; that is the one that can accommodate 700+ people, unlike the others.

Wife had her interview early April and 120 days was up last week, but still no oath date so far.

Talked to someone who went through this last year and they said that the 120-days limit only applies to giving an 'yes' or 'no' decision on your application after the interview. If they already approved you for naturalization (which is what she was told at the end of the interview, and given a notice that said the same thing) and placed you in line for oath ceremony, then the 120-days rule doesn't apply any more. You just have to wait.

Another opinion is that the 120-days (if applicable) is calculated from the last status change on your application - which was end of April, about three weeks after the interview, when she got the email saying "We placed you in line for your oath ceremony....". In that case the 120-days won't be up till the last week of August.

Whatever it may be, we are really hoping to be scheduled for one of the September ceremonies in Springfiled & Peoria, or the October ceremony in Rock Island. Would be a real bummer to have to wait till next year.

Fun fact: When we submitted the application in Sep 2017, the N-400 processing time for Chicago office was 9 to 11 months (and we cross the 11-month mark this week). Today it says 12 to 16.5 months. So if you call USCIS, they will point to the current times and say that the application is still within the expected time-lines.

Guys, I have a question. Are they any i751 N400 Chicago combo filers here , that recently received movement of either of their cases?

I filed for I -751 in May 2017, and for N400 in May 2018. My estimated time completion for Citizenship shows July2019. Recently they transferred a bunch of cases around my number for I-751, but not mine. Was wondering if anybody has similar situation and you have any recent update.

I submitted mine in mid-July 2017. I was gutted when I saw that Chicago Field Office extended their processing times. I really hope those of us living in the cornfields won't have to wait another year for the process to be over 😫

My online  account estimated completion date when I filed was shown as November 2018 ... now I am in line for oath there is no longer an explected completion date listed.... I agree, i bet those of us in central Illinois have to wait until next year....I was told at interview that I came under Urbana and they had jurisdiction ( the only place in central Illinois that has three ceremonies on the same day once a year - go figure the logic of that one).

Does that mean we that falls under urbana jurisdiction won’t have our oath anywhere else other than urbana which is in April next year?

Not necessarily. I spoke with a clerk at the federal court in Urbana and she said sometimes people get sent to one of the other locations but she said they just do what Chicago tell then to do! So I am hoping not.... but at the same time I am thinking it will be likely to be next spring.

It will really suck if we have to wait until  next spring which is like a 7 months wait

The officer started with the Civics questions, she asked me six and I think I got them all right because she stopped and moved on to go over the N-400 form. She literally asked me all the yes/no questions on the form and then asked me to sign two papers. The officer had a strong Russian or Eastern European accent which was difficult to understand and kinda had an unnecessary attitude. Other than that, the interview was okay.  Hoping to receive my Oath letter soon!!

Congratulations! You got the same woman as me. She didn’t approve me she wants more evidences and I took everything back same day after my interview nothing has been done since then. They need to check that woman on a more serious note.

I think I too had this lady....long blonde hair and maybe eastern european? Seemed very brusque and business like but mellowed at the end. I did have to get her to repeat a couple of questions due to her accent too.

Wow, I guess we have been interviewed by the same lady then!

Maybe she needs to have a little breakfast before heading to work, that might make her feel better :)

Hey! I got an account just to reply to this as there is no clear information about how this works and I hope I can help! I just had a Chicago combo interview today  (8/15) and passed :)

I submitted my I751 in Oct 2016 and N400 in Oct 2017 so you've probably got a little wait yet.  BUT The Chicago Field Office is now adjudicating cases together. However, I only ever received a letter for the N400 interview. I brought my husband with me as I presumed they'd want him for the I751 interview, even though there was absolutely no mention of it in my letter. Anyway, it was really good I did as he had to be present. My officer was lovely, she brought us in together and did the I751 interview, then he left and we did the N400. They can't approve you on the day as the I751 approval takes 2 days to clear in the system and then they approve the N400.  Hope that gives some clarity!

Wow! May be you just got that lucky!!! Because I've heard from a few people about unsuccessful attempts for combo interview, when the officer didn't conduct an N400 interview and preferred to reschedule it, to wait till I 751 would be approved.

I myself was in  infopass twice in Chicago, and was told that they don't do combo interviews , and that nobody will touch or approve my case untill the other pending case for I 751 has approval.

I was told this at my info pass appointments too. Once my I751 was outside of processing time I did a service request online and wrote to my local representative. Both the response to the service request and the representative (who got a response from the Chicago Field Office) said that it would be a combo interview. Maybe it was because mine was outside of processing time? I would keep pushing, my local representative was SO helpful.
