I got an online update aboit being in line after like a month in October, but the date I have been in line since as stated in that update, was September 13th. How about you?

That's wired because they put you in line before they got your background clear because background check it takes at least a month to be completed.

My case they accepted it on October then got my finger printing taken on November and since that date never get any update! :(

It doesn't take at least a month to clear background. In fact, most people clear it in like 3-4 days. So your status still doesn't say you're in line? Does it just say that you did your finger printing?

No it doesn't say I am in line. And doesn't even say I took my finger print. I don't think there is an update stating that you had your finger print taken!

Through the mail

The seem to be scheduling interviews for people who filed by mail in early to mid-May; lately each month, according to USCIS data, they've been processing 2 or at most 3 weeks' worth of filings.

What Do you mean they've been processing 2 or at most 3 weeks' worth of filings?

It means the line is getting longer and longer because as each month passes, they are only taking care of 2-3 week's worth of applications. Here's a helpful site, where someone has compiled the progress updates for each field office for N-400 filings: http://web.utk.edu/~lyle/n400.html

If you look at the Chicago line, you'll notice that for every monthly update (= one column), the difference in dates being processed is usually about 2-3 weeks compared to the previous month. Take the dates with a grain of salt, of course, but this is the data being reported by USCIS.

(These dates seem to apply just to paper filings, as online applications are often being processed much, much faster.)

I think I will not put a hope to get it over soon. I will just live my life and see what I supposed to do and when they contacting me for the interview then I will go. I have to move and have many things to do but I am stuck here in Chicago because of that.

But I don't think they process the applications by priority of who sent it first because I see people applied after May and got there interview scheduled !!

Only online filers are processed at a different speed, I think they are processing Nov or Dec 2017.

Paper filers are by priority date and are processing mid-May 2017.

Unfortunately for paper filers it takes 9-10 months before you even get a interview date.

That's why the end of the post mentioned "(These dates seem to apply just to paper filings, as online applications are often being processed much, much faster.)" Sad for paper filers, but true.
