Every office and their work load is different. For us, Waukegan office just came up to about 70% staffing last month and they had a huge backlog. My wife received interview notice for March, 3rd week. It moved pretty fast once biometrics was complete.

Yes, I did. I mentioned no updates since initial receipt and waiting for either biometrics reuse or biometrics appointment.

I still cannot figure out how interview scheduling is being done. Which metrics they are following?

One of my friends applied for naturalization in April 2019 and still waiting for it yes April 2019. 

She did got scheduled in april 2020 but due to pandemic it got cancelled and till to this date we are actively reviewing your case. Have tried everything contacted both senator, congressman you name it. 

She has given up the hope now even contacting anyone. Sending messages online and she keeps recieving the vague computer reply. You will be notified for interview once the slot is available.

That's insane. Since she filed April 2019, she can open an official inquiry as her case is beyond normal processing time (Chicago's case inquiry date is October 10, 2019 as of today.) Has she tried that?

Yeah forgot to mention she already talked to the tier2 officer and she did file out of processing time. Again same vague answer pending review and waiting for interview slot in chicago.

In my April filers thread, someone mentioned to just keep bothering them. Don't give up, keep calling and messaging. It's really all we can do sadly.

 

I totally agree that something weird is going on at the Chicago office. I can understand a delay after the interview, as maybe they need to look into things based on how the interview went....but having this much of a delay before the interview is just baffling!

@Fahad86 has your friend tried contacting the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman)? I've heard this is also an option try:

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I did talk to her yesterday and till now i think she had only written emails to uscis, contacted senators and congressman. I will definitely pass the word to contact ombudsman. That is a good point and will let her know. once again Thank you. 

 

Hopefully you get your case updated to reuse biometrics since its been pending April 2020. 

As you know for me its been more than a year i filed and finally will have interview on March 9th, hopefully nothing else happens and will go through the interview. keeping my fingers crossed.

Got another generic reply in my inbox this morning. Still no updates, still waiting on biometrics.  The reply:

It is up to the adjudicating Officer to determine if Biometrics may be able to be re-used for each case.

Per USCIS policy, biometrics must be collected as part of the background check process on all applicants for naturalization regardless of their age.

 

Once you have been scheduled, you may view and print a copy of your USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) Appointment Notice within your USCIS online filing system account. After you log in to your USCIS online filing system account, access the Home Tab to find the "Documents" field to view or print your official appointment notice from USCIS. You must take the ASC Appointment Notice and photo ID to your appointment.

Just emailed the other senator's office (Durbin) for help. Will follow up with my local representative next, and finally if still nothing, I will contact the ombudsman. I also just sent another message via the inbox and don't really plan to stop until we get news about biometrics.

That is a new one!! Approximately on this exact date. I got another canned response in my inbox that my case is awaiting biometrics and will be scheduled "as slots become available at the ASC."

 

Which ASC is nearest to you? When I put in my zip code, it shows Norridge for me. I wonder if Norridge is the slow office that is holding everyone up.

I'm actually 5 min away from that office. That's where I went last time. I know they are open.

Interesting that we both seem to be waiting on Norridge then. I'm waiting to hear back from Senator Durbin's office right now. Duckworth's was no help at all, so curious if Durbin's fares better.

FINALLY. Biometrics reuse notice under the "Documents" tab!

 

U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has received your form and is currently processing your application, petition, or request. This noticeinforms you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and useyour biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded.

Received my Biometrics reuse today . Filed 29-Sep .  

 

Question : Anyone know how long after the biometrics , interviews get scheduled ? I have an international travel coming up in next 2 weeks and I will be back in April . Wondering if I should reschedule the travel to a later date 

 

Suggestions / inputs will be much appreciated
