But ’tis a common proof
That lowliness is young ambition’s ladder,
Whereto the climber upward turns his face.
But when he once attains the upmost round,
He then unto the ladder turns his back,

Thank you! I filed on 03/11, officially it got registered on 03/16. I had my interview today. It didn't go well. Basically, I was told that I didn't meet 3 year of marital union requirement. I filed 90 days in advance and I didn't leave with my husband at the same address prior to immigrating to the USA due to the nature of his occupation at the time (Peace Corps Volunteer). The lady said they would send a letter, but there is a great chance it will get denied and I will have to re-file. She said she wished I waited and filed later. So today was not my day at all :(

@Yuliya Lipina I am very sorry to hear about this :(

Oh no! I thought it was ok to file 90 days in advance?? I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. Can you get an attorney involved at this point?

It is ok to file 90 days in advance as long as you meet civil union requirement on the day you file. It looks like it wasn't the case for me. Even though USCIS does have a provision that says that if the US  citizen spouse was employed abroad, which Peace Corps Volunteers are considered to be government employees, a foreign spouse might be exempt or eligible for a reduced civil union requirement as long as you meet the residency requirement. Long story short, it's up to a USCIS officer to consider all the provisions out there. She might spin this case in any way. It might be in my favor, but it might be not. I appreciate her telling me straight out that there is a problem with my case. Otherwise, I could have had a heart attack we I just got a denial letter.

Unfortunately, I will have to re-do everything if USCIS rejects the case.

Sending good vibes your way and hopefully the provision works in your favor. Like you said, life moves on, enjoy the holiday season with your family and friends.

My brother-in-law also interviewed yesterday and he was approved, so he's waiting on oath letter now.

Hi all,

I received my interview notice.  Notice was dated December 5th, and I received it this weekend.  My interview date is January 8th.  Hoping it doesn't get rescheduled as others have had this happen.

I'll update the March filers thread.

I meant to congratulate you on this notice ! I'm so happy to see you moving forward.progress at last!

Hi, Chicago filers!

My wife was among those interviewed today. She passed! She was extremely nervous, but it was an overall good experience. Our only major complaint was that, in Chicago, there are two doors out of which the IO's come out and call interviewees numbers. We weren't told whether to sit by Door 1 or Door 2 when my wife checked in, so I sat by Door 2, and she sat by Door 1. Also, the numbers seemed to be called pretty randomly, and there was no screen saying what number was next (like at the DMV).

Still, things went well, and we only waited 15 min from her scheduled interview time. A full review is here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=22995

My wife was told that the oath ceremony would be within the next 60 days.

Good luck, everyone!
