Thanks for your service!! its been only 3 weeks for me since my finger prints but it seems ages to get the interview scheduled. This forum is such a good support for everyone like us.

I just wanted to share my timeline / experience.

7/17/19: Filed online based on 5 years rule (Early filing, my 5^th anniversary was in October 2019. Pretty straightforward case. Single, never been married, filed taxes the last 3 years, clean record…).

7/19/19: Biometrics scheduled.

8/8/19:   Biometrics done.

10/30/19: Interview was scheduled.

12/17/19: Interview done (was easy and quick “less than 20min”. IO asked about a long trip I had in 2015) / I have also requested a name change. (Decision cannot be made).

1/23/20: We approved your application, in line for Oath Ceremony

2/3/20: Oath Ceremony Notice Was mailed (document appeared on my online account next morning all the 3 pages (not sure if this is new) so even if I didn’t receive the mail, I would be able to print it and fill it out. I received the letter 5 days later 2/7/20).

2/18/20: Oath Ceremony done at the Dirksen Federal Building (Judicial Ceremony, since I requested a name change).

2/19/20: Applied for a Passport at the Passport agency (expedited, I have a trip coming next week).

2/21/20: Picked up my passport today.

 

Overall, they are moving pretty fast here in the Chicago field office compared to other field offices which is really surprising considering that the office is only open 3.5 days a week.

My March 31st N400 interview just got rescheduled because of the current virus situation.

I filed in November and had my interview scheduled for March 24th..but waiting to receive a notice for the rescheduled dates..

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but the official USCIS site is now showing the Chicago office N-400 processing times to be 13 months to 48.5 months.

It's not just us, almost all the offices now are showing 1-2 years plus processing times for the N-400.
