The petitions are for reunification so be careful. At least make sure to be back well in advanced to his interview to establish strong ties to the US (at least 6 months). Also, if you don't have a financial sponsor, you would need to think what you will do about that, unless you have a job waiting by the time you are back before his interview.

PS: File taxes as if you were in the US the whole time and keep things behind, like bank accounts, lease, storage locker, something.

No, that won't do as affidavit of support. It was to be from current job.

Be careful, I think you need to ask for more advice on VJ.

What I meant is I do have my dad to sponsor my husband. He is qualified for it.

Oh! OK. Yes, that works. I'm guessing your dad is a permanent resident or a US citizen.

Just make sure to be back well in advance of his interview because consuls don't like when the PLR spouse is living in the other country. Also, keep ties to the US in the sort of thing I mentioned above.

Also, your kid can travel with you to the US. He doesn't have to stay in the other country. I think you need to do some quick paperwork in the consulate. I'm not 100% certain what that is.

For the visa purpose is better if you did file taxes. People on VJ have had their visa delayed at the consulate stage because they've had had to submit back taxes. You can file the old tax return.

But also remember that if you get interest from savings or you have property, you need to report that.

You should check on VJ if there are threads about taxes because I'm not sure how you have to file, if married and filing separate, or what, since he is not in the US with you.
