okay so im curious what is the latest i should risk sending my package off because were having a little money problems at the moment my date started im guessing august 4th aka today since my green card expires on nov 4th honestly so worried over this whole thing and i dont know how long i can hold it off without effecting my package ect. but dont have the $700 at the moment to just send

Hi,

My husband sent out the package 15 days before his GC expired. We received the extension letter not long after. His employer never asked for the extension letter and such. However, about 2 weeks ago the college he applied to asked for a copy of it.

I hope this is help.

Latest it should get to USCIS is November 4th (Not the day you mail it but the day they receive and issue you the NOA1).

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

You can remove the "not valid without DHS authorization" as soon as you get your 2 year GC, you have to go in person to the SS Office. As soon as my husband got his I took him to remove it.

That is great information to know. Thanks!  Can't wait to have that removed. Makes you feel like a second class citizen. In the state of Georgia, they are trying to pass a law that would have NON CITIZEN stamped on all immigrants' driver licenses. :(

Oh I lived in NY for 10 years as F1 then H1B before I adjusted status, lots of DMV stories to tell during that period. Red Temp Visitor Exp all over the DL, had to renew multiple times during OPT, H1B transitioning, at some point DMV refused to renew my license, had to drive with expired licenses and such. Once I became resident then no issues.

Dealing with the DMV in Georgia is the worst!  Just last week we went in to get the one time 120 day extension for my husband while waiting for his EAD.  One office was adamant that they could not and would not do that even though I had the print out from the website that stated that they could. So, we had to drive an hour and a half to another DL office and they gave it to him.

Yeah a lot of DMVs are woefully ignorant of their own processes.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

so this SSN removing the restrictions on it what do i have to do exactly ?

Just bring your SSN card and ask to remove the "DHS Authorization" then show your green card, they might gonna ask a state iD as well

I live in NY and I did that after I got my Conditional green card. I also did that on my state ID since on my state ID stated I was a temp visitor with the expiration date, some institutions are hesitant to accept ID if you show ID with restrictions, specially if money matters. I google all of these info and found out that you can remove those restrictions once you have your green card, regardless if it is conditional or not.

They are bad here...! Fortunately the ones I'm close to are in counties where there are a lot of immigrants. I was prepared for a battle when i went to renew my DL on an extension letter but they seemed to be very familiar with it, just took it (not nicely though) before I even started explaining.. One of my friends had to do it in the Hall county and they wouldn't even consider.
