and for other countries the civil documents are turned in to the consulate and the consulate mails out the appointment letters.

Selecting BGT (Bogota) from the list directs you to the Appointment NVC Processing Instructions which requests that all civil documents be sent to NVC

Ok, obviously we need to see a DS-230 instruction sheet to answer this, but since it's a slow night...

I think the answer lies in what you just said: "and for other countries the civil documents are turned in to the consulate and the consulate mails out the appointment letters."

For the countries that NVC arranges the interview, it makes sense for the NVC to need "everything".... But that is not the case with Colombia.

Why would the NVC suddenly want everything???... if the foreign Embassy is still coordinating all appointments, sending notices, etc..

And why would they change the policy all of a sudden?

Just a guess, but I bet things have not changed and just some people are getting excited over nothing. If there HAS been a change in

policy, why can't anybody come up with a URL or reference to that new policy?

That web site where you select the embassy, "BGT", well that could be a simple problem with the web page not being set-up correct.

Government web sites are by FAR the WORST organized & maintained web sites on the planet.

that's the question right now, whether its the nvc or embassy giving out the interview dates. it was mentioned on another post that many people were being turned away in bogota because they were not prepared with the proper docs. looking at it from their point of view, it would make sense to get the info up front through the nvc and then getting the interview date so as not to waste time at the embassy.

you could be right, right now we are just speculating. i had never seen that page at the state dept with the drop down menu before april 1 so i couldn't tell you if things have actually changed. all i know is that i was prepared to send the passport copy only until someone from another board mentioned the possible change in requiered docs based on that webpage, so that's where the doubt came in.

in any case, i'm glad that i have everything ready just in case and i think i'll wait for the ds230 to see what they want. we needed these docs anyway and i believe that things happen for a reason and if this is a false alarm, at least it got our butts moving to get these docs now and not leave everything for the last minute.

If for some reason you can't come up with a photo of "either" of you than post a picture of Bob Dole or Ed Koch or something, ok???

I think not having a photo is "bad" karma and could be the reason your IV bill is taking a while to process!
