Everyone,

I have a few questions regarding evidence to send with the I-129F.

On my first visit to Costa Rica to meet my girlfriend, we were robbed. Our passports, laptop computers, a cell phone and several other items were stolen. I also lost all of my receipts and ticket stubs (they were in my laptop case).

1. I have the Costa Rican police report from this incident. It has dates and both of our names. Would this be a good piece of evidence to submit with the I-129F? If yes, should I include an english translation? The report is in spanish.

2. Our relationship has been ongoing for 20 months. I have visited her on 5 different occasions. Should I try to include photos, airline tickets, etc. from all 5 visits?

3. We made friends with an ex-patriot couple living in Costa Rica on our first meeting. We visited the same couple on a subsequent trip one year later. I have a few photos with all of us together. Would it be useful to have these friends write a letter, stating that they have witnessed our relationship in person?

4. We have communicated in Skype nearly every day for the past 20 months. I have kept the logs. We use google translate to send text back and forth in Skype, as my Spanish is terrible and her english is only slightly better. As a result, the logs are massive. They contain every word we have ever sent for 20 months, in addition to the dates and times. Also, some of the conversation is of a private and intimate nature that I would prefer not to share. How do I best handle this? Should I include the entire massive log, or just selected segments?

Given the length or our relationship, number of visits, and amount of communication, I am finding myself buried in "evidence" and unsure what to include.

Thanks again for all the help!

Regards,

Steve

1. I would say that's good proof if both of your names are on it. Serves the same purpose as a hotel receipt. :P And yes, include a translation (a copy of the translation, never send originals).

2. USCIS only wants to see proof that you have met in person in the last two years, so anything prior to that isn't necessary. Boarding tickets, passport stamps, hotel receipts etc are what they want to see. You can send a couple of pics but not much more. Save the rest fo the interview.

3. Not necessary.

4. Me and my husband took one screenshot per month of our Skype conversations that showed the dates. No lengthy conversations needed. Take a couple of screenshots here and there throughout the 20 months you have chatted; ie one from the very beginning, one from right before you send the package and then a few in between. Print them and send. Like I said earlier, this kind of proof is mostly for the interview at the embassy, USCIS itself only cares to see proof that you have actually met within the last two years, and the chats aren't going to prove that.
