Another consideration for apartment dwellers is that many limit the time a guest may stay. Son's apartment on West Coast limited visits to 5 days. He had to get special permission for us to stay longer.

Because by answering them properly the OP will be more prepared? Instead of giving wishy washy answers.

 

Who are you? Have you even ever had a tourist visa for the US? I guess not since you look like a typical USC. Maybe dont give advice about things you know nothing about.

I believe you already knew what immigration officers always ask (there are always 2) - "What's your purpose and how long do you intend to stay". Don't fiddle with your answer and just be straightforward. IO will not care about your age and your gender - all they want to make sure is - you will be going back home and you will not overstay. If you can answer them straight on why you are staying for 5 months, where will you be staying, how are you going to pay for your expenses - then you will be fine. If you are bringing cash of more than 10K, declare it. If they ask you to show proof of income or money to spend while in the US - show them. If they ask for your 5 months itinerary - give it to them. Do not hold back and never conceal/lie. You will be fine, just relax and enjoy your vacation.
