Clearly Acosta wanted to get in his narrative. I honestly wouldn't have argued with the tantrum throwing SJW, I'd have told him either get to the point or you know where the exit is. Pretty sure those pressers are not for debates.

I know right I would have done the same thing in the beginning but at the end of that tirade I would have let him have it.

French is prevalent all over.  Ottawa, communities in Manitoba, east coast etc

Out west (SK and westward) its virtually non-existent (likely more Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, Arabic, etc. speakers than French). Have no idea about MB, but we shortly considered NB, as we've found they have less of the Frenchy attitude seen in much of Quebec. Just a lot of bi-lingual goodness. Problem is.. no jobs.

Edit: Oh, and nasty humidity. Likely bugs too.

On a points based system people could still get in without knowing any English. Speaking English just moves you ahead of others with otherwise equal qualifications.

So basically this point based system is replacing the current employment-based green cards. There is no points system for spousal GCs or Refugees.

Currently ~140K GCs were given to Employement based immigrants. EB-1 to EB-3 gets 40K each and EB-4 and EB-5 gets 10K. Leaving EB-4 (special immigrants) and EB-4 (entrepreneur visa) out, EB-1 to EB-3 was kinda representing the points system anyways, no? The difference is there is currently no age and language skill bias but looking at the current demographics most of these people already fall into higher points for age 25 to 50 years old and since they are already in US with H1Bs, most of them if not all speak English proficiently anyways.

I don't think points system is going to change things much. People seem to pick on the use of Nobel laureate, Olympic medal ,etc but those words are already used in the current EB-1 qualifications. https://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/permanent-workers/employment-based-immigration-first-preference-eb-1

The only difference is unlike the current system that gives equal number of of visas from EB-1 to EB-3, new system will favor EB-1s the most, then EB-2s, and so on, which is totally fine for me.

Edit: The numbers I used are from official USCIS statistics https://www.dhs.gov/immigration-statistics/lawful-permanent-residents .

And I thought my attention span was bad..

Maybe you should go back and read your own responses if you're lost. It was you after all that was whining to me about something other than "legal immigrants".

The left tend to confuse legal immigration with illegal.. even trying in states like California to blend the two.. well intended.

Even at the bottom of these forums they encourage people to report illegals and illegal activity.

Anyways, its the left that have a really tough time with reality. Hence why they turn to the statue of liberty because Congress and the President aren't giving them what they want.
