Concerned, should I be?

I'm really concerned & it might be a stupid concern/question.. 

 

My family are throwing an engagement party for us when my fiancé is visiting again here in the UK (3rd time) in Sept.. neither of us are religious & this is a simple party with family & friends, will this affect our visa process? Only reason I have a concern is because I've read around the forum about certain embassy's/countries see things such as celebrations as 'ceremonies/marriage'

 

Please help clear up my concern.

You should be fine, it's just a party. Just don't do anything that resembles a wedding ceremony that can be posted on social media. For example, there was one poster that had an engagement ceremony where they exchanged engagement rings.

For the London embassy this won't be a problem. Engagement parties in the U.K. are completely different from wedding celebrations. The concern exists in countries where engagement parties are almost the same as weddings (the girl wears a traditional wedding dress, blessings are given, rituals take place to bring the couple wealth and health, etc). In some cultures there is no difference between being engaged and being married. The lines are very much blurred. Such cases cause K-1 visas to be denied as the embassy cannot be certain whether the couple are married or not. Having a few friends round for drinks to celebrate an engagement in the U.K. cannot be confused with a wedding.
